Voidwalker aggro is only a myth if you are playing destro lock.

I never have issues with stealing threat off of my pets, and I’m generally the last to die when the tanks die! But that’s just how things are when you play Demo with a build centered around summoning more demons. Like 90% of my damage is via pets so I get almost no threat, it’s wonderful!

But Destro? Yeah you guys have it rough. Aff, too. VW threat is quite low that it’s unlikely to hold threat for you, and even if it does, if your pet dies it’s pointless for you to resummon it because it’s never going to catch up.

It’d be ok if warlocks still had Soul Shatter, but in the meantime the best compromise you can do is to spec for more survivability when soloing and just run with your imp or felstalker. That’s all I did when I played Destro from MoP through to BFAs launch when I went Demo instead. My VW was barely used. That said it got harder to do that in Legion when we lost Ember Tap, so I don’t know how effective it is now, but… VW does nothing anyway, right? Might as well use a dps pet.

Playing in legion, your infernal could literally tank anything. Now the VW can’t even be trusted as destro if you want to pull 10 mobs on an alt for wqs.

Unless you’re severely undergeared, it shouldn’t even matter. Even the elites do next to no damage between the shields and healing destro gets.

One issue I consistently have with Blizzard is how they seem to excise QoL at random. One xpack you’ll have a tanking pet that works, the next you won’t. No reason, no underlying consistent philosophy, no acknowledgement. Idk, oftentimes I think Blizzard deserves the hate it gets for these kinds of slights.

Every pure class has a complete aggro wipe and combat drop except for warlocks. Getting one would really help with more than just lousy pet threat generation.

I don’t think VW has been a good tank since MoP. Which is sad, 'cause I love my blueberry.

Bring back Soulshatter pls

Why do Hunters’ pets get to hold aggro but not the Void Walker? Why a Warlock shouldn’t be allowed to have a VW tank but Hunters can have pets that can pull aggro and hold it fairly well from ACTUAL tanks.

Devs: Nah, Warlocks will become… too powerful. We need to balance you know?

Warlocks: What about hunters?

Devs: Well they’re the pet class.

Warlocks: Warlocks are a “pet” class too. It’s a significant chuck of our DPS and when we pull out a Void Walker we expect a better pet tank than a hunter’s pet, but less DPS completely. What is wrong with this?

Devs: See… If we give that to Warlocks, people might want to play them?

I just can’t fathom the thought process that goes into keeping Voidwalkers useless.

It’s the same thought process that keeps our succubus useless, keeps our interrupt attached to the felstalker despite it being a dps loss especially for demo, has us using the same pets with mostly the same abilities since vanilla with advanced demons turned into skins, that continues to cost us a soul shard to summon a pet even though the time investment in resummoning it should be enough of a dps loss, has stopped blizzard from keeping old promises about different gender pets like the incubus, and has prevented the pet system from being revamped even just once while the hunter pet system has been revamped, what, like 3 or 4 times?

Blizzard doesn’t care about warlock pets. Never have, never will. Could probably extend that to warlocks themselves but the removal of demonic empowerment and life tap shows a tiny little iota of understanding. But the only person on blizz who’s ever shown warlocks and their pets love was Xelnath. Sure wish Blizz didn’t fire him. Every class deserved to have a Xelnath.
