Voidwalker vs Imp?

When questing as a Warlock (not doing instances), which demon do you prefer to summon? Do you like having the Voidwalker to keep monsters off your back? Or do you prefer the Imp for the extra firepower? Or do you prefer to use another demon entirely?

I just go demo, and use felguard because he’s a good tank and does great damage. Voidwalker has seemed like a rather weak tank for awhile now and imp is meh, I rather have a tank pet and fel guard is light years ahead of voidwalker as a tank atm.

How about Destro and Affliction though?

On my affliction demon hunter I used my voidwalker almost exclusively while questing. I didn’t like getting hit by mobs.

I don’t know whether that is the right way to play or not. It just works for me.

The Voidwalker is my shield, and it’s a shield I use up to 40 yards away. He takes the beating and smashes back while I stand far away and make my target sicker.

I use a Wrathguard, because it hold aggro pretty well, and looks cooler too.

Well I guess voidwalker in that case.
But that dude is so hard to keep up, you gotta health funnel him a lot on big mob pulls.

Use the void walker. Single target it will do the same damage as the imp anyway (all pets do same single target now; excluding demo ofc). The voidwalker will hold aggro and also does some minor aoe damage on top of it.

between 116-120 and getting some azurite traits, my affliction void walker was quite squishy against more than 2 mobs and i’d have to health funnel him every other drain channel.

once i hit item level 340 void walker is nice and tanky while i dot up the zone

I use the Succubus because she slows my targets so I can kill them before they get to me.

I’m not a fan of the Voidwalker because it pulls everything and their mothers.

Plus the Succubus is prettier.

Affliction - Voidlord
Demon - Wrathguard
Destruction - Shivarra

I usually find it easier to just resummon him at full health than spam health funnel

The problem with that approach is the loss of threat.

I use the succubus when playing lock…for obvious reasons.

Eh?

If I had a warlock I would use all of them equally.

misstype. On some pretty heavy drugs recovering from a heart attack on Easter.

Voidwalker for bosses/lazy mode playing. Imp but the cast time he has actually slows down the kill time as to where void walker melee hits all the time.

If you’re question 110-120 use the voidwalker. It’s pretty weak compared to demo’s felguard, but with how mob scaling is in BFA you can’t just nuke mobs down before they reach you as a Warlock. Warlocks dps is exceedingly weak while leveling in BFA compared to other classes.

I summon whatever i click first and then sacrifice it for the extra damage. More damage means more shield uptime

In more difficult content, like just hitting 120 and having terrible gear, I use the voidwalker to keep stuff off me. But now that my lock is geared up to the point that I don’t really even need a pet for solo content I often use the imp or even the succubus just for fun.
I would just stick with the voidwalker all the time but I hate its ‘let’s aggro everything’ AoE damage. And if you turn that off you’re reducing the pet’s damage. So, yeah, what was the question again?
