Voidwalker tanking Issues!

My Voidwalker can’t hold threat … This has to be a bug of some kind because he was never this bad at tanking in 8.0 … I really wish the devs would STOP tinkering with our pets and tanking in general

anyone else having issues? mine won’t auto cast suffering

Mine can’t either, I thought maybe he just sucks for destro, but he can’t hold aggro if I cast more than a few incinerates.

I did notice he never casts his taunt, though…hrm.

Make sure the taunt skills are on autocast. Summon one, open your Spell book, click the Pet tab and make sure the taunt skills (I think there are 2 that generate threat), have a moving marquee on them by right clicking the ability until it shows up.

Some mobs will ignore the tank and go after dps, no matter what.

I’ve played this class for about 7 years, I’ve never seen my VW lose aggro after he has aggro, I’ll pull a pack of 8 dogs to skin, he’ll taunt and have aggro on about 2 or 3 of them and as soon as I start casting I’ll have full aggro from everything until it’s all dead

All my VW skills and taunts are on all the time, the VW is broken and needs to be fixed

This. I’ve played warlock for a while now, and when my blueberry was suddenly not able to hold aggro, that was the first thing I checked. He just absolutely sucks as a tank now, and it feels like something is wrong with him.

Same, there is obviously something broken in the Warlock VW mechanic. A timid fart is enough to steal aggro from him. :dash::skull:

What really gets me is the shaman earth elemental seems to be a far better tank than the voidwalker. Yeah it’s on a cooldown but during that time it seems to be a lot tougher and holds aggro better than a dedicated minion.

A warlock is giving up quite a bit of damage and utility to have a voidwalker out, it should be a much better tanking pet in exchange.

It’s a known issue which doesn’t seem to be an issue for Blizz. After a certain ilvl, VW can’t handle the threat we generate anymore. Basically it only holds threat for a couple of seconds and it might get it again if you “lay low” and stop nuking as you would during a normal rotation.

I personally rarely bother with it anymore. I mostly use the succubus (which is also useful in world pvp) and tank most mobs myself.

There is a distinctive problem with his tanking AI. he spams his main taunt even when the threat meter is capped. So when you line up those juicy double chaos bolt with critical proficiency the enemy will turn and tackle you while his taunt is still on cd.

I am glad to see it isn’t just me, I too have started to notice my void not holding aggro.

Also this is new to my warlock as I didn’t have this problem until the patch update.

Make sure his taunt is set to autocast. If it is and you are still having issues, take it off autocast and manually control it to taunt when he loses aggro from your hotkeys.

If he’s just plain dying then consider demon skin talent

I really miss having the infernal or the void lord (the actual one, not the glyph) . It’s really annoying how much they nerfed and broke the void walker. Can we please get a better tank again?

Not to mention thing folds like a piece of paper. @ Fresh 118-Fresh 120, I had to resummon my voidwalker after EVERY SINGLE PULL

Felguard too, extremely fragile at times. I don’t expect it to hold aggro as well as a voidwalker should but it should be a bit tougher than it is currently. There were a lot of times I had to heal mine halfway through a fight.

Gotta love the AOE Taunt pulling all the crabs, seals and seagulls in the world along for the ride as well

Yep, you’d think it would be relatively simple to look at the threat list on the caster and just target those threats for a taunt instead of a blind AOE taunt.

Yea I don’t even bother to heal the damn thing it dies so fast … quick resummons worked while leveling and still does at 120 LOL

The VW needs Legion stats and taunts fixed
