Do Voidwalkers not hold aggro anymore? I can’t take down a simple elite because my voidwalker keeps losing aggro!
Aggro is related to Threat, and Threat is based around damage and whatever multiplier you have.
The Voidwalker deals a considerable lower amount of damage in single target compared to you, so you might want to give him some “headstart” by doing things like 1 - making sure he does the first hits on enemies, allowing him some time to build larger threat will help him hold aggro better.
Besides that Voidwalker have an Taunt effect, who is a debuff who for a small amount of time ignores the threat levels and force the target hit the Voidwalker.
If you don’t allow your voidwalker to build threat and starts pulling throwing a few chaos bolts or Dots>MR’s or some similar heavier hitting effects (incinerate nowadays fall on that), the moment the Taunt debuff ends the enemy will go towards you.
Felguard manages to hold aggro better on demonology because not only Demonology player damage is smaller, but the damage of felguard is higher than other pets (by a lot).
I’d only add that you make sure your Voidwalker is set to Assist and not Defensive, even if you do have a /petattack macro.
they have changed how Defensive stance works on pet recently (don’t ask when, i just learned this very recently).
Its now similar to assist (in that it attacks the target you attack) but will prioritize to attack stuff who is attacking you.
I’m having the same issue… prior to 10.1 I could destroy the mob and the voidwalker wouldn’t lose aggro. Now I cast one chaos bolt and 2 incinerates and the mob is all over me. It will taunt the mobs back, but as I said, prior to 10.1 that wouldn’t happen at all.
