Voidform replacing Shadowform means that we actually don’t currently get a damage increase from it. We just get a few Void Volleys and a very small damage increase to secondary targets in AoE from all damage that is not Psychic Link due to those targets taking damage as if they also have SW:M.
But not anymore! They’re finally giving Voidform a proper damage increase!

IDK what yall excited about. Voidform is still the weakest cooldown as far as they go. Its better than nothing true. But no actual shadow problems have been addressed. We went from it being a dps loss to barely a dps increase.

Not every post or change has to fix all our problems. Sometimes it’s okay to celebrate the little wins.
No no, I genuinely am happy that the cd will now actually give us a power increase. Albeit a little one.
Just to echo what Viljo said: it’s a small boost to our damage, but it’s an actual boost. I’ll take what I can get.
Shadow is in a good spot overall. This is a little extra icing on top and evidence blizzard is watching. So I’m pleased.

So someone at Blizzard finally learned the basic fact that Voidform replaces Shadowform and provided an uninspired bandaid fix to what used to be a legitimately amazing CD that actually changed how Shadow played.
This doesn’t strike me as a “they are paying attention” and more someone finally got to the person who could make change and said “the 10% of Voidform replaces the 10% of shadowform” and got a response of “so make it 20%” and then they went back to other classes.
Voidform’s current state is absolutely depressing when you remember what it once was. I’m not saying we need to go back to legion days but would it kill them to actually play into the Old God themes a little bit. We could summon horrors, create more tentacles, or hell I would even accept the space stuff with falling stars, vortex, blackholes, etc etc.
Voidform should feel epic to use, not just sprout tentacles on our back and given the absolute minimum of a damage buff.
It’s why I don’t plan to raid anymore. Extending VE as archon was fun. Now it’s just you get an extra button and a tiny damage buff like every other big CD. Playing the rotation shadow has now for hours at a time on one boss would just put me to sleep.
What cluelessness? I’ve been a Shadow main since BC.
I’m happy that this is a positive change from what we currently have. Please explain why it’s not, or what I’m “clueless” about.

We’re not shooting off confetti, but acknowledging a mildly positive change isn’t being clueless. It’s just choosing not to be miserable. There’s plenty of that already on these forums.
So you acknowledge it’s a positive change? What are you crashing out about then?
People respond to information differently, and just because you don’t think it’s a big enough change doesn’t mean someone else is clueless to be happy that it’s a positive change.
Nobody here is saying they’ve buffed it to be on par with other classes’ cooldowns because, ultimately, that doesn’t matter. Classes are, thankfully, not designed the same. As long as it is actually useful to press and we’re balanced around it not being strong, that’s fine with me. We have PI as our actual cd.

The issue is more that they took a CD that was possibly a dps loss, turned it into barely a dps increase and called it a day. I’m not sure why I should praise lazy development. Shadow Word: Death is still an actual dps loss . . . as an execute. It only executes the caster.
I still enjoy playing shadow, and I’m a super casual player coming back after a long break, but it’s a bit depressing to see that class design hasn’t improved.
I hate it I use it, long CD for pretty Meh damage, its clunky have to stand still in ground attacks to use it, 4 sec cd to launch some cheesy void missles…

I don’t love the cast time either. But it’s a relatively short cast. You don’t “have” to stand in anything just to get it off.
The problem with VE is it’s the most kickable spell in the game, with DA you could pop it off behind a pillar and go. It’s also one of the few casted big damage CDs. Not sure how Blizzard decide that infernal, combustion, darkglare, wings, etc. are all instant casts but arcane mage and shadow priest have to do a 1.5 second cast to do damage.
Pretty much. This such a laughably illogical way of thinking. It’s more rooted in ego than anything else. But this is what happens when “herp derp negativity is bad!!!” bull\*\*\*\* gets spread over and over by contrarians who want to feel superior.
The actual truth is simple. Void Form needs to be far stronger than it is now, and this change is not enough, not even close. Stating that is not “being miserable” or “letting comparison steal your joy” or some other moon fiction. Its just fact and there is nothing at all wrong with saying so.
As usual, the concept of disparity is lost on the trolls. Priest does not exist on its own, and the ONLY way to tune it properly and objectively is to measure its performance against other classes. Balance is impossible to achieve without comparison.
If these fools want to celebrate a negligible change and pat themselves on the back for “not being a complainer” then they are welcome to live in their made up world. But those of us in the real world know that attitude is a detriment to the community. Negative feedback is not a shameful thing, it’s valid, and very important for pointing out what needs to change.
