It’s really more that they gave void elves an advance payment instead of making them wait like the rest of the ARs.
Since the models are completely identical, skin tones and eye colors were literally a matter of copy/pasting textures, that’s why Blizz gave VEs an early customization boost. Everything that requires actual work will come when they give ARs their actual pass.

Tentacles are separate from the hair. It’s easy for them to remove them.
If you mean hair color + tentacle combinations, that’s easy. Just like human faces in 9.0, make the hair colors only available with the non-tentacle hairstyles. Like how so many human faces are only available to certain skin colors.
EDIT: For the Record, just like High Elves as an actual race, I do not personally want normal hair colors on Void Elves. I’m simply pointing out that it’s not an outrageous request.
