In the Midnight patch notes for shadow priest, it says void torrent removed. How will that whole talent tree based on void torrent work now? The one with dimensional rift?
Did anyone see anything in the notes to say how that voidweaver will work without void torrent?
I’m not exactly sure how the spec will play yet obviously. But really void torrent wasn’t that interesting anyway. It was basically giga mind flay and an extra keybind.
Looks like they haven’t updated Voidweaver yet. So we don’t know how the hero spec is going to look yet I guess.
Thanks Ralecgos! There were so many notes I thought I missed something. I wonder if voidweaver will be less space and more tentacles! Can trigger of tentacle slam instead or something idk.
Yeee. I double checked the alpha talent trees on Wowhead and the voidweaver one has a node at the very top (entropic rift) that mentions void torrent still.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Voidweaver also just, gets void torrent implemented as a spell that’s part of it’s hero talent tree once they do a retooling of it in later alpha updates

I would definitely appreciate this. I’m not a fan of Hero talents locking you into specific talents on the regular talent trees, I’m more interested in the idea of Hero talents changing how a spec plays.
I’m really bummed out on the removal of a couple of our idols, the apex talent just is not the move, I’m sure they’ll fix this I hope they’ll fix this they won’t fix this
Oh I didn’t even notice that they took out half of the idols. I’m very happy C’thun is staying, I love that one. Kind of surprised they left in Y’shaarj, I don’t think anyone likes it. Who wants a talent that debuffs you?
One thing I noticed that I think is exciting is that Void Bolt in Voidform has been replaced with Void Volley. I’m also pretty happy that they’re fulling leaning into Voidform as the spec CD, Dark Ascension is no more.
Shadowfiend is also now Disc/Shadow only and it looks like Vampiric Embrace is missing.
The new void form is Dark Ascension. We lose Void Bolt and Void Volley is a 15 second cooldown so you can use it like twice every 2 minutes.
My issue with this is that, we have two talents in the appex talents that deal with talents that have no interaction with one another.
First, Shadowy Apparitions spawn from the use of Shadow word: Madness ( worst name ever ).
The first appex talent says that SA spawn from the use of our idols activating, C’thun and
Y’saarg being our only talents, Cthun has no interaction in its own that spawns SA, as its activated by MF, Void Valley, and they’re saying Void torrent still.
Y’saarg has a chance to activate by one of our spells, key word, a chance. It’s activation rate isnt really all that high at the moment.
The other appex talent of Having Tentacle slam, activate one of 2 idols, that aren’t really all that engaging to begin with, feels a bit strange as well.
I suppose it would really have to depend on proc rates, but I just feel this design was not really thought through completely. Again while there is time to change, I won’t hold my hopes up too high.
Instead of removing they could combine them. Void Torrent talent: every fifth (or however many for balance) mind flay transforms into Void Torrent.
That just sounds like Mind Flay: Insanity with extra steps.

Careful, having anything “Void” or “Devourer” related may be encroaching on the new Demon Hunter spec, remember, Priests are not allowed to have what other classes have, they are only allowed to have what priests have.
That is the logic we have learned way back in DF beta lol.
In that case, we can go with Shadow Word: Wrong Direction
I notice it says these talents have been removed. Makes no sense if the ability is gone, thus there’s no way to trigger the rift. So instead does it mean they are gone as talents and made baseline instead? That would make more sense, but they don’t say that in the notes.
