I don’t know if it’s a conscious move, but it seems smart to do this since the Void lacks for some identity (or has prior) with overlaps in Fel and Death.

Zerg use Void Energies according to Starcraft Lore… As do the Dark Templar and Xel’naga.
Yes the Old Gods are indeed the same as Zerg. The Silithid Workers even resemble Zerglings though not quite(https://www.wowhead.com/npc=131892/silithid-sentinel#modelviewer:10+0).
The void has changed to me since I’ve been playing, so maybe so! 
Tentacles will always be an old god thing to me tho lol
I mean, it’s about as much as Aliens and Starship Troopers resemble each other. If they weren’t from the same company, engaged in a parody of two works from another company that are related in a similar manner, I’d write it off. Also, the ravagers from Outland/Draenor are much more like zerg/tyranids than the silithids are.
