Void Metamorphosis is wrong

The premise we have been told about the devouring DH is that the spec is pure cosmic void and no fel, which is why its demonic form makes no sense since it resembles a demon (fel) with void, but there is no fel.

So, I’d like to suggest new forms or creatures that you could base your Cosmic Void DH transformation on. I would love if you make suggestions too.

Rashanor (K’aresh world boss) it’s an easy option to base a void meta on, you’d just have to change the existing form a little so that it has some of its characteristics: without horns and hoof, with fins and appendages similar to the draener/VE/Broken, a midpoint between a being of flesh and pure power of the void.

Other options between a flesh creature and a void creature on which the DH void metamorphosis could be based are:

  • Azure Void Flyer
  • Void hound (ironically, this one has too many eyes)

Among the most cosmic options are:

  • Void revenant
  • Void walkers

While I prefer the fleshy options the idea of a metamorphosis in which you become an energy being contained by runes/stealth/tattoos that surround you sound great.

Even if they decide to leave it as is and only replace the horns with some other visual characteristic could already be enough.

this can be fixed by adding customizable meta forms

god I wish. That would be so freaking sick.

I am not a fan of the new void meta form. It is just a reskin of havoc. With them adding a 3rd spec, it would have been cool to get a unique meta form so all 3 specs have something different.

Agreed. I am leveling this DH, because I thought void DH sounded cool to try. However, after being reacquainted with the class, it needs more polish aesthetically. This isn’t just a Demon Hunter problem but the potential of cool looks is more apparent with this class.

You’re still a Demon Hunter. You just took on the void and it warped you.

You still underwent all of the other processes involved before that final step. You still harbor a demon inside.

Really? We’ll have to see, because the main representatives of this spec and their origin are the Void Elves, and the story of how they transform isn’t in the game yet.

Also, remember Lothraxion? The lightforge Nathrezim certainly retains the generalities of his form but he doesn’t have horns and instead has a more or less flaming aura of light, he’s not a copy and paste with a different color, at least not entirely.

All that without mentioning how boring and low effort it is that the demon form of the new spec is just a purple Havoc.

True, it isn’t. You’re not a Void Elf though, and if I’m being honest I’m going to probably say (revised thought process) that non-velf DHs would canonically be incapable of accessing Devourer powers if the Void influences them that much.

True, but he was also Lightforged. The entirety of his being was remade directly by the Light, whereas this is more likely to be “letting power in/taking power”.

Maybe it’s contextualized as being similar due to containing a void entity instead of a demon if you’re a velf? Idk.

More proof that there are people on this forum who will literally complain about anything.

I can understand wanting a unique Meta form for the third spec, since Havoc and Vengeance each have unique forms.

I don’t think it warrants being upset about it, but that’s just me, I guess.

The DH are half demons, in the initial experience of the DH Illidan confirms to the character that he has a demon soul just like him. Following this line, the devouring DH should be half void entity, therefore their metamorphosis should reflect that and not a demon.

Of course all of this will depend on the specific process by which you obtain the power of the void. If they first transform into normal DH and then absorb the void like the raid boss did it would make sense, in the end it depends on the explanation they give.

Still, it feels like a lazy job that the new spec’s meta is purple Havoc.

I agree with your opinion and just to clarify, there is no anger in my comments, only criticism.

And I’m imagining that it works that way for Void Elves, who may take on a form similar to the Blood Elves due to familiarity.

The other two DH races would technically be non-canon to Devourer, I’m gonna hazard to guess, just as I’d also imagine Havoc and Vengeance to be non-canon to Void Elves.

I feel like that’ll be the way they go if they decide they want a more general explanation that allows crossing of it between races, but Blizzard may not care anyways. We’re PCs, so we’re unique in that regard, and most NPCs are pretty locked into one lane.

I’d like a new form, but I’m not gonna expect one. :dracthyr_shrug:

I don’t think you’re angry, but I’m imagining some people will be. Even if they are, they may feel justified in that, and I’m not one to judge that in this case.

The assets for a Draco Void Meta that kinda looks like Rashanor exist already in game, we saw it with the Final Form in the Aberrus Fight with Sarkareth.

(Can’t post pics sorry!)

They just need to code it in and add the missing animations or use the Dracthyr Rigs for it… maybe finally getting flying. I personally, if I were a dev, would reuse this option or the Gargoyles in Ravendreth who uses armor bits and mix it with the Dimensius Theme like they did with the Star-Eater Mount where they give them golden armor bits with a Cosmic Glowing star heart Look and add unique cool glowing or animated VFX tattoos to give the impression its containing and holding your form together like you mention.

I would do this not just because it would look incredibly cool and amazing, but also just incase Dracthyr ever join the DH ranks in a distant future I would already have the Draconic Meta ready and set to be reuse so I don’t have to create a new model.
Also I strongly suspect that Dracthyr and DH share quite a few assets… not sure why DH are not flying like them if that’s the case, since the flying animations exist and just need to be coded to the Meta or in normal mode with their own DH wings for flying. I suspect the later could be tricky to code in, however I seen it in other popular MMO’s, so I’m sure it’s very possible in WoW with the incredibly talented people Blizz hires to work on the game.

These could all be use to create new Meta CC options… even the Void Hound form could have a special animation or glyph where when you cast your eye beam or use spectral sight floating eyes could pop out! Although this could be use for an talent of a new Void power that could change or add an 360 AoE Eye Beam too…
Void revenant Shadow Wings, Mask and armor aesthetics it wears could be added as CC options as well as maybe some of the Azure Void Flyer theme form or wings.

There are so many possibilities and ways the Void Meta could be Presented in a unique Form. The question is, if the Dev Team Working on it have enough time to to develop it before the end of the Dev Cycle Deadline.

Also like mention by Tyranis, this could all be added to Meta Forms in CC to Customize and literally Personalize theses different Meta further or even going as far as give us unlockable options just like how Warlocks unlock their Different Demons or Druids their Forms.

Here is hoping that before Midnight or during we do get more options and the Spec gets more detail at least Visually!

Becoming a giant void hound would be awesome

My understanding would likely be is the demon hunter still has a bit of fell energy in them from being a demon hunter so the demon form is a clash between old and new

Agree, I just wish DH get a quest option to turn your Void Cosmic Powers to Purple and Green Flame similar to Hellcaller VFX ability animations specially for does who still want to show that Fel and Void volatile combinations when fighting. (Similar how you can do a Warlock quest and later get the option to turn your Fire Spells to Green). People who still want to RP as still having Fel with their Blood Elf or Night Elf could do so, while Void Elves fan could still keep their Cosmic Theme or if Night Elves fans want to RP as a Night Warrior they could do so.

Freking love how cool those VFX look in Hellfire Hero Spec on Locks Mini Meta, would love if the DH would expand on it in a more cosmetic option. They just look so volatile and chaotic! Perfect to show that Clash visually as you mention when casting abilities or fighting!

I do hope Void Elves and well as the old race DH do get new unique CC skin and eye glow options showing the Void and Fel running inside them.

It’s 2026 and some are in fact void elves who chose to become dh. All the DDH artwork has purple eyes, etc and yet in-game we got fel eyes and standard dh stuff. Bit weird.

Spot on with this. Even the void-dh unlock has the dh become overwhelmed by void and kicked through a portal to… somewhere.

Anyway, don’t take this necro too seriously, I know info for midnight was limited back in sept. Was just looking for an answer to a meta form question and saw this post. The “you’re not a void elf” comment made me lol bc I’m leveling a void elf dh.

I agree!

For a Void Elf DH, I would want Devourer to look as it is, full Cosmic void. But I’d want the other specs to have hints of void mixed with Fel. But for a Night Elf DH I’d want the opposite!

Customizable Meta forms via barbershop are a must too. There are datamined variations for it. The Devourer form is “fine”, it can work well for Blood and Night elves, but since Void Elves come in through other means, it would make more sense to be able to choose an option for something a bit more unique and voidy.

I agree with this. It doesnt quite fit the theme. I feel like its a super easy fix if they were to listen.

Also, the form has NE ears so if youre playing a Blood Elf/Void Elf, it has the wrong ears and some of the weapons are facing the wrong way on your belt.

Just saying… just needs some polish.
