I imagine most Night Elves are dark elves. Ash and charred skin is a pretty dark color.

Void Knight paladins and Dark Shamans would be really cool.
Ehhh, not feeling it for shamans. They force the elements. Not simply void. Doesnt fit right to me.

The void and the elements have a quite close relationship, and we saw dark shamans in the Twilight Highlands during Cataclysm. Seems like it works to me.

Well yeah, but they are about forcing elements against their will. Not simply void related. Locus walker convinced a dreadlord to go to the light. I dont see controlling elements fitting with void elves.

Tolkien choose to keep the pre-Christian description with thin modifiers, AD & D had an other recipe to have elves fitting in every type of habitable zone, as for WoW the inspiration comes from pre-Christian (mostly Scandinavian) to the modern era.

Actually void elves are blood elves that were converted. The original void elf was Aleria, the sister of Sylvanas, the Blood Elve’s Ranger General.
Spiders and beetles don’t use the same animations as the normal cat, bear, and werebear forms, or have the teeth or claws that the latter use to fight. I don’t see the art team making an exception just for void elves the same way I don’t see them reskinning the entirety of the paladin class just for them.
Nightborne look more like Dark Elves in my opinion.
I think someone at Blizzard was not grounded to earth and in the Clouds when they created the Emo Elves.
