As it stands, the void wings are tied to the chest slot item, which makes transmogs a hassle considering almost nothing matches that chestpiece (at least with cloth) aside from other parts of the set.
As I hear it, the intent for the Tauren heritage armor set is to make their iconic totem a back item instead of attached to the chestpiece as is the case with Void Elf void wings and the Highmountain Tauren mini-totems.
Can they make the Void Elf set include a moggable Back Item version for their void wings?

Yeah, IMO that would be fair and consistent.

Would seriously open up allot more options, I'm super sad all the robes are now off the table for me since I can't give up my heritage 'wings' for the foreseeable future.
Much rather give up my cape slot since I hardly use it.

It really should be connected to the shoulders or give all three the option to show wings.
I hate showing the cloak on my chars because it looks tacky. Just give people the option to choose which slot suits them better.

also, separate the chinpiece on nightborne from the chest (or make it a barbershop option, that would be even better)
That'd be fine.
I'd also accept a VE only toy with no cooldown to toggle it on/off with

I want the wings to 'replace' the cloak, not be built in (to be clear)
Again, don't use cloaks!
And to give up shoulder mog would make me sad....very sad.
I'd support that
That would be much better! +1

Ah yeah, so basically they could have two cloaks. One normal one with wings and one hidden cloak that is just wings.
Sounds like a good plan.
The rumor on the streets is that Bloodelves get multiple options for their kilts and pants. I think options by having multiple pieces like them would be idea.
For an example: HM Taurens can have the default totems tied to chest piece, however they also get a new item in the next patch that are totems on cloak.
I don’t know what would happen if you equip both at the same time though.

I'm surprised it's not to begin with.

With how the BE chest piece work, we know they can make alternate versions for different pieces.
VE Wings should have an alternate version where the Cape are the wings.
NE should have a Chest only version of the robe, and the "skirt" in the robe be tied to the belt, not the chest piece (IMO the NB armor might be the worst in terms of slots, as most of their dangly bits are tied to the robe instead of being spread into all pieces. Take the robe away and you have almost nothing)
Make two versions of the cloak, one with the wings and no cape and one with the cape without the wings.
