Void Elf Unlock

Hello my fellow players. I am having a hard time understanding on how to go about unlocking the void elf race. I am 60 on my monk, so I figured it would be breeze unlocking the race… so far it is not the case. I go to dalaran and click the option to skip the intro quest for legion, after that the only quest that I can accept is uniting the isles which unlocks world quests. Is this the only way about unlocking the quest chain? Is it a prerequisite before I get to go on about receiving the hand of fate quest and starting the quest chain? I guess my real question here, is it easier to start questing legion on a level 45? Is uniting the isles skippable. It seems annoying to have to get rep in all those Different areas. I wish there was a step by step guide : … ( I just want to be a void elf.

Yes, you have to do Uniting the Isles to unlock end game content. (Which includes Argus.) There are two versions of the quest. On your first character, you get one where you need to do the reps. After that, characters get a version that they can just turn right back in.

It’s only friendly rep, and on a 60 you can knock it out pretty quickly.

Once you’ve done Uniting the Isles, you’ll need to unlock the Broken Shore. Khadgar will have the quest for it on Krasus’s Landing in Dalaran. You just need to do the intro, not any of the other Broken Shore stuff. Once you’ve turned in “Assault on the Broken Shore” after doing the scenario, head back to Dalaran where you can now get “The Hand of Fate” to start Argus from Khadgar in the Violet Citadel.

Thank you so much for clarifying <3

Hi I’m a new lvl 50 shaman who also wants to unlock void elf. I just spoke picked up the Uniting the Isles quest but I have no clue how to earn rep with all these places cause I didn’t see any quests. Further more when I look at my reputations, I don’t even see the places in the quest listed. Anyone know what I am doing wrong. I never did any legion content. Been gone since WoTLK. Thank you!!!

You’ll need to do the Legion intro and unlock your class order hall to begin questing. From a Hero’s Call/Warchief’s Command board, choose “The Broken Shore” option. (If you don’t see it, you might have to pick up some of the other quests first to unbury it.) Follow those quests until you have your Order Hall unlocked and it asks you to pick a zone.

You can start with any zone (you’ll need to quest in all of them.) Once you’ve done enough quests to get to friendly with the first zone you chose, you can go back to the hall and pick a new zone. (Generally, it will let you pick a new zone once you’ve completed the intro quests for a zone.)

For the Nightfallen rep, you’ll pick up the starter quest from Khadgar in the Violet Citadel. (It will either be Khadgar’s Discovery or Magic Message.)

Be aware that while you can do all the unlock criteria (the Argus content) for Void Elves on a Horde Character, you will need an Alliance character at 45+ to do the actual unlock scenario. So, if you don’t have one, it might make more sense to start an Alliance character and just level them through Legion.

The way to start Legion will be the same for a level 10 character as the 50. Just be aware that if you start in Exile’s Reach and don’t opt out of the tutorial when you get to Stormwind, you’ll need to complete the BfA intro up through the “Come Sail Away” achievement (basically unlocking the portals) before you can start any other expansion.

I need help also. I have done the broken shore and turned it in but can’t get the next step. “The Hand of Fate” to start Argus from Khadgar in the Violet Citadel”. Khadgar is not there. Any clues? I read someone else getting help and they were telling them they are in the wrong dalaran. I only know of one so I don’t know what else to do. I have spent too much time just to be frustrated for unlocking a couple of races. I truly appreciate any advice. I am just coming back from being away for several years. I don’t have any 60’s left. The current alt I am trying to do it with is 40. (she used to be 100) ugh. Is 40 too low? Thanks ahead of time!

You need to be level 45 before you can start on the Legion end game content. The Broken Shore thing can be a bit confusing as there are two times we assault it. The first time is when we are opening up Legion content. (It doesn’t go well for us.) The second time was part of the 9.2 patch which unlocked the Broken Shore for end game content. This is the Broken Shore assault you need before Hand of Fate is available and it won’t be available until you’ve hit 45 and unlocked world quests…

Once you get to 45, you’ll need to do some unlocks before you get to Argus:

  1. Unlock world quests by completing Uniting the Isles. (If it doesn’t pop up automatically, Khadgar will have it in the Violet Citadel.) If it’s your first character through Legion, you’ll need to do the “hard” version* of the quest where you get to Friendly with each of the 5 zone factions. (If you’ve done it before, you’ll get the easy version which you can just turn right back in.)

  2. Once world quests are unlocked, go to Krasus’ Landing in Dalaran and Khadgar will have the quests Armies of Legionfall and Assault on the Broken Shore.

  3. Once you’ve turned in Assault on the Broken Shore, then you can go back to Khadgar in the Violet Citadel to pick up “The Hand of Fate.” (You don’t have to do any of the other Broken Shore quests to unlock Argus.)

*If you need to do the “hard” version of Uniting the Isles, you can pick up the starter quests for Azsuna (Court of Farandis), Val’Sharah (Dreamweavers), Highmountain (Highmountain Tauren), and Stormheim (Valajar) from your order hall scouting map. For Suramar (Nightfallen) Khadgar will have the quest Khadgar’s Discovery or Magic Message to start it. You need to be 45 to start Suramar.

Finally, some of the Argus quests are not practical to solo at the original content level (45). So, getting to at least 50 can really make things easier. At 50, you’ll get a modest overlevel bonus in Legion content which should help out soling the group content if you don’t have people who can help you out with it.

As for the Dalaran thing, there’s Crystalsong Forest Dalaran (Wrath of the Lich King) and Broken Isles Dalaran (Legion.) The portal from the main cities leads to the Crystalsong version. For the Legion version the closest portal is Aszuna. (Although once you’ve done the Legion intro, you’ve got the Dalaran Hearthstone for direct access to Broken Isles Dalaran.)

Thank you very much for the info! I guess it will be a good while if at all before I can begin this. So much fuss for unlocking races. Sigh

As you had a max level character from a previous expansion, you might have Chromie Time unlocked. (Generally, you need to level a character to 50 to unlock it, but it seems that people who had max level characters from previous expansion also have it unlocked.) You can find Chromie by the Embassy in Stormwind. If you’ve got access to her, there will be an hourglass on the map marking her location.

Using Chromie Time it will be trivial to get to 50 while doing just enough of each zone to get to friendly reputation. Without Chromie Time, it’s a bit harder as you’ll start getting an XP penalty after 45. (It’s still quite easy to get into the high 40s, but the last couple levels to 50 are going to be slower.
