Ok here it goes.
Void Elves’ racial Spatial Rift is not a fun spell to use and feels like a waste of a racial ability.
You can run faster than the projectile travels. The skill requires two button presses, one to launch the projectile, and another to activate it again. This results in a skill that is not reactive enough for PVP/PVE, resulting in Spacial Rift not being worth anyone’s time to ever use.
I suggest a rework of the ability.
One easy fix would be to double the projectile speed and make it auto cast the teleport portion of the ability once it reaches its maximum travel distance. Possibly even increase the distance the projectile travels.
Another suggestion of a rework would be a short duration stealth/invisibility. Activate the ability, enter the void for a few seconds, and then reappear at another location you run to. Kind of like when you enter the void in MacAree on Argus with Alleria, except its a few seconds not minutes.
Post your ideas here if you have any. Maybe the developers will discuss this in their next balance meeting.

Copy blink. Done.
Maybe add some void look to it.

Spatial Rift can be rather powerful, it just requires pre-emptive planning.
in a PvE, Raid/dungeon, scenario you can set it off seconds before your required to move for a mechanic and save yourself having to run to avoid something.
there are likely many ways it can be used to great effect, it just requires some creative thinking.

Actually it is quite good in pvp you can use it, jump off a ledge to bait your opponent and tele back up through line of sight.

They should have made it ground targetable like Warriors Heroic leap.

People will come with uses for it that are extremely niche and most class movement abilities do better.
The thing is too slow and feels nothing like the portals Alleria is supposed to make.
They should make it targeteable like Heroic Leap. Requires a second button to push but lasts like 30 seconds instead of 3.

I one time used it for world pvp stuff. I taunt an orc warrior as a arcane mage by a cliff. Then use the Spatial Rift behind them, then fall down the cliff, use Spatial Rift at the last second and use Super Nova. I know that is pretty useless but to me it’s gonna be VERY useful if the enemy is predictable. Like in Eye of The Storm when some boomkin looks like he’s about to knock me off the bridge thing, then I just use spatial rift.
But the ONLY downside is, it’s that has a 3 min cooldown for such a small thing. Why not 30 sec?

The projection being sped up would shift the purpose of the ability – it is intended to be used tactically, not reactively.
A good place to start would be to increase the life of the projection, so that the teleportation window isn’t so narrow.

I find it really good in PvP. Throw it out and run the other way. If they follow you activate it and make some massive distance. If they don’t just don’t activate it and make some decent distance. Win/win really.

I do believe that racial was tailored to be way more useful to casters. Send the voidy wave, keep casting a few more seconds, teleport far away to dodge predictable ground fire, cast more.
On a PvP situation, play it like Sylvannas’ banshee wave from HotS. Send it away while running a different direction and force your to pursuers chase your body, only to have you teleport farther away.
For melee, you can still use it to jump over annoying fields, like the lightning orbs in Temple of Sethraliss.

I actually think it works fine the way it is. Alternatively if they made it placeable and stationary that’d work fine too
I enjoy it quite a bit in pvp when using gate so melee will chase, then rifting right back to where I was before

I’m not the biggest fan of the way it works if I’m being honest, but it’s not bad. It’s just more technical. I don’t expect them to change it.
I have a lvl 59 hunter void elf that has never once used this ability. I honestly have no idea of how to actually use it haha.
Nooo BROO I love Spatial Rift
You’re using it wrong, Spatial Rift is not a mage blink, it’s for juking & reposition.
Keybind it, you shouldn’t be clicking Spatial Rift. I have it keybinded to V
Don’t take it away from the rest of us that use it properly because some don’t understand its functionality.
Spatial Rift is literally busted in the right hands.

You can use it to min/max a little in PvE, or to reposition pre-emptively.
Say you know an ability is about to go off and you need to move to avoid it, you can use SR and keep casting and then right before the damage hits you port with it and don’t lose any momentum because it will be where you want to be when you use it the second time.
Or a simpler use, you have mobs coming at you and you use it, and just when they get to you you use it again and now you’re behind them and back out of range, etc… You can be creative with it.
In PvP, using it forces your opponent to decide to either stick on you or try and catch you when you port, and you can also play off them. Confuse a hunter you know is about to trap you, for example. Launch SR and now he doesn’t know where to throw the trap. Use it before a warrior charges you and make them waste a charge, etc…
Spatial Rift should’ve been opening a Void Portal and teleport somewhere like a mage.
No uses in PvP/PvE, but cool void portals that every void user (even Orcs) can use, but you.
I’ve never tried to use Spatial Rift despite some time leveling, though. Have found no use to it. I wonder if it works to dodge unavoidable moving objects such as the Spike balls on Raznal.

Pretty much lol. Have yet to use it once on my VE hunter, and VE mage. Took it off the action bar. Might be useful for a void elf warrior, or somethin I guess.
