Void Elf question

Hi folks,

I was thinking about making a void elf as I’m interested in their whole concept. I’ve seen posts and I’ve talked with people in-game about the void elf lore and how many people dislike how it was just “pulled out of thin air.”.

I was wondering if any of those feelings translates into people not rping with void elves on a whole? I’d rather hate to spend time working on a story, leveling, gearing, and trying to make rp contacts if I’m going to hit roadblocks like that.

Thanks for your time.

In my experience, void elves should have no problems making contacts. They are usually welcome in most guilds. Now that the honeymoon phase is long over and the people who are playing void elves are more likely the people who are going to stick with the characters, this should only be closer to the absolute truth.

I have never found issue, personally. I find plenty of people to roleplay with and haven’t encountered anyone who didn’t want to simply because of the lack of lore. My character has an extensive backstory to play with and I do my best to make -safe assumptions- when it comes to Void lore.

I’ve had zero issues having people approach for RP and making contacts. Keep in mind that the Draenei were also “pulled out of thin air” back in BC (well, more like crashed out of the air) and they never really got a lot of lore until WoD and Argus.

Just because the race is currently light on lore and reasons for being around, you can still play off the fact that your character wasn’t born a void elf either. They were either a blood elf or a high elf, depending on how you RP it, so you do have a lot of lore options and don’t have to make things up as you go.

As far as Void lore goes, I dunno, I generally don’t focus on it too much, nor have people made a huge deal about it in past RP experiences.

I actually quite like that idea. However, I doubt Blizzard would even consider it, as they seem to be struggling with two factions as it is.

But if it did happen, I think it would make sense. The Horde could return to its more primal roots, and maybe the Alliance would be based on Kingdom RP.

There might only be 4 races of elves, but there’s plenty of variation within that, and definitely no shortage of player base!

I guess the next best thing would be a guild on both sides comprised only of elves and not so much neutral, as independent?

Sorry for the slight tangent. I just wanted to muse on that for a moment.

I would actually say this is what they have to their advantage.

You can for example: Use the time your character was a Blood Elf to figure out why they become a Void Elf, what they did before for the greater good of silvermoon before taking that path as well.

While it might be light, they have alot of open ended possibilities

what I did with mine is I used the High/Blood elf existing lore as void elves are an extension of said lore. Like how Nightborne is an extension of the Highborne. Take that for example sake lets say your void elf was a child during the Scourge invasion of Quel’danas. Take that and build on your characters history ((classic-legion)) As with becoming a void elf those who followed that particular path could have been board with the way Silvermoon was getting weather it was Horde relations as from my questing experience anything from pandaria on a lot of blood elves still do not like there allies too well. Or it was just a means to understand the mystery that is Void magic which has not been properly looked at for a very long time other than we know Old Gods use it. Ultamitly I have not seen too many void elves done horribly wrong myself. I seen a few here and there that are…cringy at best to read. I would treat your void elf like a High/Blood elf still. I like the fact they are like an Extension to the exsisting high/blood lore so it leaves them a bit more open on how you would handle them.

Well, it was. They were completely fabricated to make pay off on the Alleria storyline and to give the Alliance the Horde elf model since Nightborne were being made a Horde AR.

No. Its been past that for quite some time.
