Void Elf Hunter, no Tame Beast

I unlocked the void elf and lightforged Draneai and I was excited to create hunters for both races. But they auto leveled up to a 20 and neither came with Tame Beast, Beast lore, or Dismiss Pet. I read up on the Marco needed and I applied them to both characters. I was able to get it to work for my dranaei a couple of weeks ago. I did the void elf at the same time and just started playing her. I held off on the second pet until I found one I wanted and then, Tame Beast would not work. The description pulls up when I hover over it, but it will not tame the beast. I am not sure what to do. Has anyone experienced this?

Did you dismiss your pet before attempting to take a new one?

If so and it isn’t working contact customer support.

My pet was dismissed. Do I contact support through Blizzard?

Did you check… Pet Utility?

How do I do that? I saw that go by, but I an not sure what it means. I am still very green in the game. I have been playing less then a year and some terminology goes over my head, which is why this has been tough to figure out.

Open your Spellbook, it should be the final ability in it before the passives. It has a little yellow arrow on it, click the ability and it opens a list.

Some animals cannot be tamed. You have the ability “Beast Lore” that when used on the animal you wish to tame, will tell you if you can or cannot.

It’s in your spell book.

That worked!!! I was able to do it out of the spell book. I did not see the arrow. Thank you all so much for indulging my stupidity. I have my black wolf now

Leave that wolf and skin its dead corpse. Goats ftw.

That actually brings up another question I had. Can you abandon a pet? Or are they your characters for life?

You can carry a maximum of 5 pets with you, can store extra pets anywhere there are stable masters. To abandon a pet, summon it and right click its portrait and select Abandon.

in your skill sheet there should be a skill named Pet Utility that has a drop down with all those skills in it.

Im leveling a hunter right now and if i remember correctly they used to have them all separate in the skill sheet.

Okay, that explains the stable masters. The only ever asked my hunters if I wanted to house my pets. I didn’t do it because I was unsure what it meant. Awesome!!! Thank you all so much!!! I hate being a newb. But we all have to start somewhere

While unrelated to the topic at hand, be sure to check out petopia when you have plenty time to kill.

It’s a gallery of every pet in the game, sorted by species, model, and skin, and includes lists of mobs to help you find the pets you’re looking for. An absolute godsend, but be careful you don’t lose three hours gawking at everything!

NOOOO dont do this to your poor goat boi hes way better than some lame wolf

I have only tamed one pet. Where do I find a Goat?

Your default pet… Don’t tell me… You abandoned him!!! :scream: :sob: :sob:

He’s referring to the talbuk that Lightforged start with. Technically classified as a “Stag,” which is the catch-all family for unicorns, talbuk, deer, moose, etc.

Stags are an incredibly useful family, because they’re one of the few whose special ability is a dispel effect.

LOL!!! No, my lightforged still has one and my void elf will aquire one. I love them!!! I just needed something more vicious then my little void elf thingy. Not sure what it is called.

That is good to know about the dispel effect. I still need to explore our pet’s capabilities more
