I’m confused here, why exactly are void elves being given the option to look like a blood elf? Did they all of a sudden become un-corrupted or what? I don’t see how giving them normal skin tones makes any sense considering they’re VOID elves. Idc about the eye colors, but please explain why alliance is now getting playable blood elf options?
It’s just more options for the player. Not that deep.
Like how not all Blood Elf death knights look dead. Or Demon Hunters looking rather normal if the player wants.
According to some rumors, normal skinned Void Elves are those Wayfarer High Elves in Telogrus Rift who simply consider themselves Void Elves and study/use the Void, like Alleria.
So both sides could get high elves, but the Horde got mad that the Alliance have something they do, and the Alliance are mad it wasn’t incorporated as a new, exclusive race labelled High Elf.
I think. Hard to tell what people are angry about around here, half the time I don’t think the angry players themselves know. why they’re mad.
It’s a compromise so people can have Alliance high elves without the need to make a separate allied race for it. They’re still void elves, but you can interpret it as a normal high elf if you want. Or you can view it as a void elf who’s able to suppress the purple side, like Alleria does. It’s the closest thing that’s going to happen.
Like all the other races it’s just more cosmetic freedom. RP and lore it however you want.
that doesn’t really seem relevant. Normal skin tones for blood elf dks makes complete sense if the blood elf was recently killed, same with the demon hunter but converting into a demon.
I think they are getting the skin colors since blood elfs are getting high elf eye colors. Remove the blue eyes and you can complain about the void elf skin.
There are High Elf Pilgrims in Telongrus already, and the lore reason is probably that Alleria is teaching them to go back and forth like she can.
/shrug
The real reason is probably the same reason they gave Wildhammer style tattoos to the Dwarves. You still start in Dun Morogh, you’re still technically seen as a Bronzebeard dwarf, but if you want to use the tattoos to play out the Wildhammer fantasy, you can.
Same with high elf skin tones on Void Elves.
Two reasons:
In coding terms, Void Elves are just Blood Elves with different racial and customizations. They are basically putting in customizations for Bloods and the Voids are just “inheriting” them from that connection.
In lore terms, Void Elves are a combination of both Blood Elves and High Elves, both of which were interested in Void stuff and followed Alleria.
So some of the Voids are actually High Elves and are getting the ability to hide their purple stuff like Alleria.
but it makes no sense as to why the void elves are now just uncorrupted. why werent the skin tones available from the start? and why are the void elves no so void anymore? Also what happened to no new customization for allied races? this just seems like blizzard giving into pressure when it makes no sense. We just throwing all the lore out then?
It’s to reprisent the high elves who are currently in the rift, learning the ways of the void. those guys are joining the ranks of the void elves and since they are learning it in a more controled way than the acident that happend to the origional group they are less tainted. More inline with Alleria.
I’m starting to wish these people got a dedicated section for themselves so they can argue themselves to death
The Void Elves weren’t as good at their Void Powers as Alleria was and it took time for them to get a handle on it like she can. That’s how I rationalize it.
They’re keeping their Void racials so it’s not like they’re uncorrupted. They just can stick in their base form now like she can. Ezpz.
they should have just made blood elves a neutral race. There’s literally no uniqueness to blood elves anymore, that’s my issue.
Only if you see these elf groups only by their biology and physical traits.
The only difference between Sin’dorei and Quel’dorei is ideological, and that impacts what faction they aligned with.
The SIn’dorei are still unique because they were willing to do things the Quel’dorei weren’t in order to survive.
That won’t be enough for some people, but for me it’s plenty. I still think Blood Elves are cooler.
You’re an elf in the horde, shouldn’t that be unique enough for you?
Or were you perhaps one of those belf players only on horde for belves? If so, the alliance is waiting for you.
Lmao this would be a pretty cool cop out.
They’re not really untainted. Their hair is still tentacaly and the void aspect racials and all that. It’s only skin and eye colors that are happening right now.
Originally Blizz didn’t want to essentially make blood elves a neutral race, so this is a middle ground solution to appease the endless requests. They can change their minds even if they said no previously. It seems they’ve found the extra time to give allied races some new customizations too.
It’s not really throwing out lore, it’s more letting us fill in the blanks. Like the darkspear trolls are getting sand and forest tribe options. The darkspear starting zone isn’t canon to them, nor is there lore there, but it lets us write our own stories. With elves you could be a high elf, a void elf, somewhere in between. Blizz is just giving us creative options to enjoy, within reason.
I’m out of likes There ya go!
Nightbourne are also on the horde so the elf thing isn’t exactly unique at this point
