Do they still have a demon contained in their body? Is it now a void entity that is contained in their body?
I’m leveling in Outlands on an alt and see that a lot of void walker enemies are listed as demons. So perhaps they have a demon such as something similar to a void walker absorbed inside them that gives off enough energy that could be deemed both fel and void?
No one has a clue just yet. In theory no… because they do not use fel magic at all. The Devourer spec, which is the spec the void elves created on their own to suit their innate abilities, uses cosmic void energy exclusively.
They seem to use the same meta form as Havoc, so I guess they have a demon, just a grape flavored one.
Their Meta form is them “ascending into a higher state of being”, so it’s them embracing the void not a demon.
They just kept the havoc form with a purple tint because they already made it for another purpose. (The void boss was Illidari first, thus had a demon form to corrupt. The Void Elves don’t)
Assuming, of course, the added quest to explain them doesn’t throw a demon in at some point.
Ion said something to the effect of there ain’t no fel to be found in Devourer spec. They are fully void people adopting demon hunter methods.
Which sort of begs the question at how the hell are Blood Elf ‘Devourer’ Spec demon hunters NOT void elves … lol

It seems they are sort of sidestepping how void elf DH come into being, with just finding a new Illidari who isnt a dirtbag like the last one and is willing to teach any void elf after a little quest proving their worth.
When asked in an interview why they are gouging their eyes out given there was a specific lore reason that every Illidari DH saw visions of the Legion illidan saw and took out their eyes to make it stop… and well there isnt a legion anymore… basically they coughed awkwardly and went “next question”.
So, seems like the gameplay decision was made first, then they sort of bandaid patched the lore to give some sort of bare bones reason.
…which is all lame.
So as lazily handwaved as lightforged warlocks and that void elf paladin. Got it.
They should have got their own meta form that was more void-y and less demon-y. So lazy of Blizzard to just slap them with Havoc’s form.
What interview is this? Also they said the void elves don’t use fel. Anyone can confirm if that is true?

Nobbel also attempted to corner them on changing the nature of the void also, as they sort of abandoned the entire chronicles logic of the void lords, and they sort of awkwardly evaded that question too.
They changed all the fel abilities in the class tree to void ones for devourer.
Felblade becomes Voidblade and Chaos Nova becomes Void Nova. Only fel™ thing devourer uses is Chaos Brand, which is just a passive debuff.
They do still have Chaos Strike and Immolation Aura, but I don’t think they actually use either.
Hey, I thought it was hilarious when they told Alleria to GTFO because of her Void taint affecting the Sunwell and my Shadow Priest hadn’t dropped out of Voidform after the battle ended.
