It’s time for Blizzard to make it official that warlocks harness the power of the Void. The Void was warlock territory until it became a shadow priest thing in Legion. We summon voidwalkers and void terrors, both of which were originally classified as demons. Voidwalkers are in fact shadow elementals and void terrors are aberrations.

Also, shadow priests are the origination of void casters, since Old Gods are not demons.
… and technically speaking, the mage before that.
Hey! Void creatures were demons before Chronicle. Warlocks are the original void casters. Affliction is pure shadow. Demo is shadow and fire.
I hate this idea.
Blizzard should instead lean in harder into the cosmic force of Disorder for Warlocks. The manifestation of Disorder is the realm of the Twisting Nether and Fel magic.
How you do you own disorder, disorder, disoooordeeeerrrrr?
In the first few expansions, warlocks used solely shadow and fire. The void was a mysterious dimension from which we summoned blueberries. Our first actual fel spell was chaos bolt.
In the first few expansions, there was very little lore attached to the origin of most forces utilized by casters.
Warlocks to this day still utilize voidwalkers and void terrors. Void terrors are the dogs with the extra eye stalks.
It’s a complete anachronism now.
You ain’t taking my void pets away! The idea of fel magic wasn’t fully fleshed out until years into WoW. no reason we can’t share the Void. We enslave it, not worship it like the creepy priests.
Voidwalkers and void terrors are mye pets while shadow priests are pets of their void masters.
That is so cute. Those who actually understand the void, Shadow Priests, know that it is actually you who is enslaved in the end.

If my voidwalker doesn’t cooperate, I can abandon him and get a new one, quite literally. It’s like 10g or something.
I like using multiple schools of magic. The Void is a realm of shadow and void energy is just the purest expression of shadow. Demons use shadow, too.
Shadow Priests and Warlocks use the entropic powers of the Void in nearly identical ways, — the only difference is a pantone swatch.
I’d argue that the way that Warlocks use it is more accurate to the nature of the Void though: Being that the Void wishes to literally consume everything. So drain life and drain soul are incredibly on-point.
Also Void-walkers are demons solely for mechanical reasons.

I would rather summon an Entropic Horror than a Void Walker as a Warlock. They look so much more fitting.
The entitlement of the playerbase is rediculous.
What is your idea of an entropic horror? Void and Chaos are both entropic. They both feed on life.
People really think using this word incorrectly and in the wrong context is some kind of “gotcha!”.

There is literally an enemy in Felwood called an Entropic Horror. It looks exactly like a void walker but it is green and covered in Fel flames.
Oh, you mean felfire elementals. That would be suitable for Destro, but not Affliction. They’re literally fire elementals corrupted by fel magic.
