Void Class Sets

Currently, from testing with the new void invasion or whatever it is called, you are able to obtain the T2 HD void recolors. They look really cool. What is interesting though, is you can equip them on any class of the same armor.

For example the void paladin set can be equipped on a warrior or DK, and vice versa for their sets.

Do we have confirmation this is intended? Seems odd only these can be swapped, but the others are not.

And why can’t we choose the class we want?

If the other sets cannot be swapped, I’m betting that this is unintended. Hopefully Blizzard sees this thread and resolves it before the patch drops.

If by the chance this is intended - Then cool. But all other sets should be swappable as well then in my perspective.

My thoughts exactly.

Their acquisition rate is pretty weird too is it not?

Looks like you buy an item slot and then open it to a random piece, rather than letting players buy the full sets they want.

I really would love to know what they were smoking when they made this acquisition system, because I would recommend they get their money back.

Yep exactly. You can’t even target your own class set, at least from the way it is now.

Having set acquisition be RNG is entirely unacceptable, what are they thinking? Not everything needs RNG.

Edit: Putting my math here, copied from the other thread on this

Some math: Assuming wowhead’s numbers are correct and it takes 30 minutes to grind 100 tokens (which, if an event takes 15 minutes and awards 35… 30 minutes doesn’t seem right?) But if we assume that the token acquisition rate is 200 tokens/hr, here’s the math:

11900 (this token number doesn’t include weapons, btw)/200 tokens is 59.5, so we round up.
That means 60 hours of grinding to get everything, assuming no repeats.

If their number of ‘100 tokens in 30 minutes’ isn’t correct and it’s actually the ‘15 minutes for 35 tokens’ that means you’re looking at an acquisition rate of 140 tokens/hr. This raises the grind time even further.

11900/140 gives us 85 hours of grinding to get all the sets.

None of this includes weapons to the best of my knowledge.

Based on these numbers and not being able to target the sets I actually care about, there is a zero percent change I engage with this event for these sets. I’m not rewarding whoever had the brilliant idea to hit his “player engagement” KPIs by making the acquisition process awful.

The price was changed at some point, making the numbers no longer valid. Current price on PTR might even be too cheap.

I grabbed a few pieces and haven’t found a set that can’t be worn by any class of the same armor type – yet.

Isn’t this because the items have actual stats instead of being just cosmetic? At least when I glanced at them through Wowhead they seemed to be stat items.

Yeah this needs to be changed to deterministic. ASAP. If I have to buy a random thing, and end up getting the same item over and over, and over. I’m going to lose it. I hope the dev that thought this up sees this post. You need to be slapped, and released.

The way we get these sets the past 2 versions of them have been absolutely fine. I can focus on the sets I really want, and then branch out to the others after that.

This random idea, I just don’t get what kind of a mental problem they have to think that this is a good idea. I mean seriously.

This pointless friction ridden design screams shadowlands team. If someone only plays one class, why waste their time getting armor sets for 12 classes they don’t play? They either won’t bother with the event, or hate the event and complain the whole time.

JUST LET PLAYERS BUY WHAT THEY WANT SPECIFICALLY.

STOP ADDING POINTLESS FRICTION. This design team does my head in.

There is a cosmetic option to buy that is random for that armor type.

Can you share what the new price is? For those of us who won’t be able to look for like a week, lol. (traveling)

All armor caches cost 5 accolades 150 marl. Weapon caches cost 10 accolades 200 marl.

I think those numbers are much more reasonable and the marl sink means they’re def not too cheap. If my math is right (13 classes, 9 pieces per class) now we’re looking at 17.5k void marl to get everything. I’m not sure if I have that right now, spread across all my characters (I’ve spent a good bit buying things like mounts already) but assuming this content isn’t time limited I’ll acquire more as the expansion goes on.

Recently obtained multiple duplicates while opening the caches. A few are currently sitting in my Druid’s bags, unable to be used.

Waiting, buying one cache at a time, and using all cache contents before buying a new one seemed to help, but I can’t say for certain whether that resolves the problem due to the randomness at play.

Caches cannot be refunded after opening, so if this bug goes live I suspect players will get very mad.

Regardless of whether the bug is fixed, I would consider removing the middle man by putting the appearances directly on the vendor instead of in caches. I can’t say the random acquisition contributes to anything positive for the player other than keeping the vendor’s menu tidy.
