Voice lines fade out

They worked normally on my first leveling character, and I have no sound problems with any other game, or any other part of WoW. But the voice lines for talking characters not in cutscenes will fade out after a word or two as if I’d ridden away from them, even if I’m standing still.

Example: When I got to the House of the Chosen the first time, as I came in, Margrave Krexus said (in text) “Chosen! Our enemies move against us! War is at hand, and victory will be ours!”

What I heard was “Chosen! Our…”

Draka’s voice lines work normally. This just happens to be where I am at the moment; it was happening in Bastion too. Cutscene sound, whether CGI (The Margraves starting the attack on the Chosen at the arena) or semi-animated comic (Draka’s story) work normally.

The addon “World Quest Tracker” has implemented a feature called “No Talking Head” under the Options tab on your map. This is what was doing it for me. Uncheck what you want allowed to popup. Hope that helps.

Ah, so. I’d just installed that, but didn’t remember seeing HEADS on those quests so it didn’t occur to me. Thanks!

It is turned on by default (a poor choice), I’m glad I could help.

I was wondering why my voice lines were fading out and I can confirm it isn’t just the floating head voice lines fading out. I’ve noticed it happen with NPCs who do not have a floating head. I’ve also had WQT installed for awhile and only recently this started happening to me.

It’s only beginning to happen because World Quest Tracker just added that capability. So it would have only started after your most recrnt addon update that affected WQT, even if you had WQT for years before.
