Doing 2v2 arena with Horde friend (I’m alliance), and every time we enter or leave an arena the voice channel drops. I posted this in the bugs area but got nothing. Please fix this!
Honestly? I’d suggest just using Discord.
I’ll admit, I haven’t touched voice chat in WoW in since about 2010, but the quality was always questionable, and it always seemed like there were issues with it.
Granted, maybe things have improved over the years, but so many folks already just default to Discord that I would have to think that maybe the effort level is the absolute bare minimum. It’s not often I see a topic asking about voice chat, but it always seems that when it pops up, it’s due to an issue.
That doesn’t fix the issue and I don’t like discord lol. I like the in-game voice chat and been using it for like 2 years. The quality is good. My friend and I have only had this problem the last few days. I see other people are having the issue as well, so it’s not just me.
I want Blizzard to respond and fix this…
Well…. They’re not going to lol
I tried the voice chat back in legion and was buggy as hell… tried it again and was still the same but if you prefer using the ingame voice chat then by all means do it… i hope they do fix it
Blizzard’s initial in-game voice chat was pretty terrible, but the changes they made when they swapped to the communities features made it far and above better quality than stock teamspeak and discord servers. Discord has to use ultra low bitrate codecs (like I think 96kbps is the highest they offer for most servers), due to their revenue model. While Discord definitely has the edge in accessibility and featureset (app and client and web, screensharing, etc), it’s voice quality has always been lacking. I very much prefer Blizzard voice and it’s noticeable when it goes down and we have to swap to a discord server, everybody in our group complains about the quality the entire time.
Onto the OP, we’ve had this issue happening for a few people for about 2 months. If you can, try joining through the Battle.net desktop app (call for example if you’re just in a group with another person), or make a community would be my advice. We’ve seen that will sometimes prevent the afflicted person from being disconnected.
Thanks for info. I will try that. But it’s just so strange that I have never had this problem.
They don’t respond here. You could try Tech Support forums. Or just put in an in game bug report.
Yea, the in-game voice chat works well, and I’ve used it with people in LFG without issue since BFA.
