I just got the game this week, and while I love the overall look that the “Auto HDR” gives to wow, it also has some side effects that I am not cool with. For one, all of the text in the game looks pixelated and extremely low in fine detail (blocky).
The game also seems to have issues showing some shadows on textures which causes weird flashing of in game assets that cannot be corrected unless you restart the game. This may be corrected pending a bu with using the highest Ray Tracing setting which I will test.
Has anyone else had this experience? Is there a better way to have wow play nice with HDR?
Same here, I know what you mean. Even with zero addons and stock setup, Auto HDR will cause antialiasing problems with text in the game – primarily guild chat, and any notation in the UI that’s green in color, e.g. item details effect text. Auto HDR does not seem to adversely affect any other text or graphics in the game.
Note: It’s not possible to show this problem in screenshots or screen-captured video. The fuzzy text problem is bypassed somehow by the framebuffer. It’s only visible with the naked eye or in externally captured photos/video.
I hate when that happens, I’ve had that in several games where things look fine on screenshots. What’s this sorcery?! Anyways, this is the buggiest expansion yet, doubt we will see many fixes until towards the end of next year.
