Visited Pet Bat Trainer in Stormwind, but no quests?

I decided to finally give Pet Battling a try today so I went to Stormwind (I’m Alliance) and talked to Abbey Burnhep and paid to learn how to pet battle. All well and good, so I left and went to try my first World Quest Pet Battle and get my rear handed to me as all my pets are lvl 1.

So I do some googling to try and learn how can I level up my pets and I discover that Abbey was supposed to give me a series of quests that walk me through how to Pet Battle, and allow some easy leveling up of a few of my pets. So I think to myself, maybe I just missed picking them up. So I go back to see Abbey and nope, no quests?

Is this a bug? Am I pooched? Can I still get those quests? Or can I ask someone to point me to a zone with low level Pet battle opponents where I can level up some of my pets at least.

The Pet Battle quest chain can be buggy, yea.

Couple of things to try:

  • Talk to Audrey Bunrhep on an alt to see if you can pick up any quests from her (starts with “Learning the Ropes”). Usually people have better luck on lower level alts than max lvl toons.
  • Try turning Chromie Time on and checking if she has quests.

Good ideas, I’ll try those two and report back in case this happens to anyone else and they happen to read this.

Question though

If I do manage to get the quests via a low level alt do I have to then level the pets on the alt? I ask as I want to do the pet battles mainly to raise covenant faction rep via Shadowlands World Quests on my Main.

EDIT 1: Tried to enable “Chromie Time” on my main but no option to do so as I’m lvl 60.

EDIT 2: I went outside of Stormwind and found some lvl 1 Critters and was able to battle them and begin slowly lvl’ing up a pet. Also found a Pet Battler NPC who gave me a quest which eventually lead back to Aubrey in SW. So even though I didn’t get the initial quest from Aubrey seems I’m back on the quest line now.

Once you’ve opened up pet battling on one character the pets are available to all characters, regardless of level. Multiple alts can work on leveling a pet.

New player here… having same issue.

Got to max level, doing world quests, and some include pet battles, so look up info on pet battling, go to Abbey, get the skill and the initial pet, and no quest offered. Put a pet in the collections slot thing, summon it, then went to some nearby pet battle NPCs, can’t start a pet battle with them or one of their pets at all. Doing a bit of research, supposedly, supposed to get the attack icon on cursor on battle pets? Not getting anything, not able to start a pet battle.

So dang frustrating! This is ridiculous, and needs fixed.

Update. Got on a level 21 alt, and was able to interact with Aubrey, to get initial quest with her name in it, but that was it. No further quest given by her at all.

Turned pet tracking on.

Found some level 1 critters around the ponds in Stormwind, and finally saw the paw icon above them, and was able to battle them.

Swapped to max level toon, to work on increasing pets levels.

Got 3 pets to level 25, just doing wild battles, checking with Aubrey every once in a while on level 60 toon.

STILL not able to do the rest of her quest line.

Am able to battle the world quest pet battle guys… Not that I’ve been able to beat one yet though… Their level 25 pets have twice the HP mine do, and hit at least as hard, unlike the wild ones I been battling.

Read a couple threads about feeding battle pets and using stuff to buff them up, but haven’t really found out what that means exactly.

The only ways to “buff” the power of battle pets are to use a blue stone to make them rare, and to level them, using them in pet battles or flinging yellow stones at them.

The foods are used to make them level more quickly.

There are also rewards you get from some pet battles which make your pets larger or shiny, but these are temporary and do not affect power.
