Visit your class discord

If you want to be good with it.

I feel many players do not know about it, but it’s an essential thing I feel players must do.

There’s an overwhelming amount of players that don’t know about it and you’d be surprised at how much you can improve just by talking with others who play your favorite class and spec.

You’ll see a different light where you realize your spec isn’t as horrible as everyone makes it appear and more.

Why ever not?

another offsite to learn to play the game.

While this is good intentioned, I don’t think the average player on GD really cares about improving

Worth a shot anyway.

The class discords can be a tad blunt, for lack of a better word, but it is the best resource available.

just highly depends on the class imo. used to use AT as a mage and tried our class discord long ago. asked basic questions that im sure most skilled mages ( don’t even need to be top tier just have pretty good understanding of the class ) and ironically i get maybe 1 reply in days and on discord i get 0 replies as my post just gets burried under bs, people just chatting away at random stuff.

all i was trying to figure out at the time was why is 1 talent that was our BiS giving me less dps in multiple tests versus my own build. no sites stated why either as if there was some sort of state cap but if i recall it was due to lack of vers so that BiS talent was actually worse overall for me personally until i could get more vers. tested via another mage as well who ran that build and i smoked him in majority of our boss fights.

Usually something like that could be using the talent at the wrong time in your rotation. For a while that happened to me as well I would cast Frostwyrm’s Fury without pillar of frost being active.

yea that is why i tested it multiple times but the talent is straight forward really is no wrong time to use it as you can only use it at a specific time only other option was the obvious movement issue which i already accounted for in terms of dps loss as i tested it on dummies but stationary fights i even got less dps.

that spec has a hard cap for crit which is known but it is fairly low then after that it is basically just haste to an extent and stack vers as mastery is typically bad for us. other then that though i mean i did sim, tested gems to sim as well. just stuck to my own build as all the vers gear was tied to M+ or PvP at that time and i didn’t like M+ and i didn’t pvp. didn’t matter though i mean skill wise i could down the content i wanted to do if i found a set group other then that i did down the content i at least wanted to do which was heroic raiding at the very least.

I did a while ago. Even asked a few questions. Never got answers. Ended up leaving.

No thanks, people get mad at you for asking questions or just guess/troll and the only people who answer questions answer them with links to guides I could have found myself. Most of the chat is pointless and not about WoW.

I got great at my spec with Subcreation and logs, it’s really not hard to figure out what the best players are doing and copy them.

Yeah I don’t see that happening in the Acherus, almost 100% of the time I see people talking about the spec and technicalities associated with it. Maybe try again this time you’ll probably see something different.

Because I’m old and stuck in the past.

I have always said and will continue to say that any game that requires 3rd party websites and addons in order for people to play the classes “properly” is a poorly designed game. One of the biggest differences between mediocre design and good design in the intuitiveness of the user interface and class skill rotations.

Acherus is probably the best one there is ngl, very helpful and nice people

The channels are all neatly organized as well!

I agree, earthshrine is really good.

Obviously it gets annoying answering the same questions over and over so I can understand being short with someone who didn’t check the pins or asked questions that were found in the wowhead/icy veins guides.

I find they are very helpful when it comes to questions that are clearly thought about or not mentioned on guides

That’s nice, the DH and Hunter discords are awful and borderline useless. The priest discord is great but I can still answer whatever questions I have by looking at the best players’ logs.

Not really no. Class discord’s have as much misinformation as the forums. Wowhead guides are far more informative, while also having glaring flaws and often being out of date.

People would play far better if they just took the time to read and think about their passive and active interactions while spending a few minutes on the dummy each week with a damage meter.

Most of why people perform badly is purely because they never prepared or practiced to perform well. I see first hand player’s performance drop in direct correlation to their playing time. Which doesn’t even consider practice.

Playing video games is deeply analogous to playing a musical instrument, you need to know your instrument and you need to practice. Far too many think they know when they really don’t know their class well, and never practice then wonder why they cannot perform as well as others.
