DC’s, lag, bad pull, whatever the reason may be, sometimes vision runs end way too early through no fault of your own. Given that access to visions is limited, and a very important character power upgrade is locked behind them, it would make sense to be able to retry them in some way.
Concerned about people getting too many rewards? Fine, let me pass on everything I would’ve earned and start over. Instead, since my internet is bad, out of 9 Visions I’ve attempted, I’ve DC’ed and lagged out in 4 of them. It’s absolutely infuriating that I cannot retry this critical piece of content.
Not gonna lie, I don’t think designing around the assumption of a bad connection is a very good idea. ISPs need to do better, and backbone providers need to do better as well.
If you’re constantly being disconnected from Visions, I don’t see how the option to re-attempt them really helps you – you’d just keep getting disconnected.
Why design around assumed symptoms instead of looking for solutions to the problem at hand?
Out of curiosity, why is your connection so bad? Is there nothing you can do to solve that one root problem?
Well you wouldn’t need to, but when you have a finite amount of chances you sort of do. This isn’t a problem with keys, nethershard mage tower challenges and the like because even if you get dogged by a bad connection it’s not a huge deal.
It would give me another opportunity to try without being disconnected to complete the thing? Not sure what’s confusing about that. It’s an important quest to get done, trying again after failing is a completely reasonable thing to expect on something that is otherwise timegated.
Because sometimes the problem isn’t the player’s, it’s on Blizzard’s end. My problem is my internet, but Blizzard is not immune to service issues and never will be.
No. I live on the edge of town in the country, and the only provider option (because monopolies a just wonderful) not stable and likely never will be until I move further into town. That shouldn’t completely prevent me from enjoying an aspect of the game tho, literally everything else in game can be retried at will except for visions.
It was a far, far more forgiving limit, and one that you actively go farm to try again. You cannot go farm more for Visions, your only option is waiting for more dailies.
Aren’t you suggesting effectively infinite retries, though? If so, what’s the point of requiring a currency at all? Even the timer (the sanity bar) starts to edge into pointlessness if infinite retries are possible.
In my experience, that’s pretty rare for instanced content – although I do occasionally feel the desire to slap a network engineer for the fustercluck that is world bosses being done in open server shards and lagging the entire shard out into oblivion.
I feel you on this one – there’s one ISP in my town that isn’t satellite, and they know it, and as such they feel no need to upgrade their infrastructure. I can play games without trouble, but I could never stream myself playing a game with the upload speeds I have available.
While I understand your situation is a bad one, I still don’t feel like designing content with that in mind is a wise idea. Once one considers that in general design philosophy, it makes a lot of things muddier – especially since disconnections can be faked by unplugging one’s router, Alt+F4, hard reboots, etc.
OP wouldn’t have the problem if we had more tries. Loot is irrelevant at this point tbh. Nothing new is coming until prepatch. Let people farm all the corruption they want and have fun.
They’ll make them way more accessible before the end of the expansion just like they did the mage tower but they won’t be doing it until late june or july, you’ll see.
I pretty much agree with this. I could see it cut down to 3k or 5k. Realistically, when a cap is present on Corruption Resistance, there’s little point in setting such a low number of effective tries per week.
Plus, setting it to something like 3k would allow people with limited time on a given day to still do a Vision if they wanted to. Go do the one Pandaria/Uldum portal daily, go do your vision, go to work or whatever.
