Are visions doable as a resto druid not spec’ing into a dps spec?

I did it as a bear and Thrall was kinda rough the first time since you don’t have anything to cleanse yet. I was doing around 15k dps through most of it, so I’d imagine as long as you can push higher than that you can get through it. After the first one when you get the first skill that cleanses your corruption before you do the boss it’s no biggie.
So my thoughts is, you should be able to. As long as you can push 15k dps and not die.
As resto druid I went to org not really knowing wtf was going on in resto. I ran right to thrall literally went feral and dotted dpsed fast as I could only getting thrall to.half health before running out of time.
So basically wasted a key pretty upset o about it. With no way of queuing searching for ppl is a pain. Main healers are gonna get the shaft on this one either find dps gear which I don’t have time for or find a group dont take the chance and risk soloing as resto.

The visions are essentially timed solo scenarios. Don’t do timed solo scenarios as a spec that does very little damage.
You don’t have to find DPS gear. Goodness knows it’s been so homogenized that it’ll be serviceable at worst in any spec.
Well I guess I should have done more research. By learning the first talent in the cloak you get 3 orbs that restores your insanity back to full. I guess since my addons were out of date the button to press the orb wasn’t showing up. Should have just used stock ui until i had time to update my ui. Knowing this and being almost to half after killing the mobs to thrall could have used a orb to restore my insanity bar live and learn I guess. So probably doing it in resto in cat form with the talent is doable but you’ll be cutting it close.
Grabbed two guildes who were DPS. I stayed resto kitty weaving. We blew through the first 4x in under a couple of minutes. Ran out of visions, so we’ll farm the last one to get through rank 5. I wouldn’t want to do it solo as resto though. A DPS or two makes these stupid easy. We ran around, cleared all the trash in the main area and killed the boss. Rinse and repeat. It took us less than a half hour to blow through rank 4. Rank 6 will get a lot tougher to do.
I’ve done the valley of spirits zone+Thrall as resto quite easily. Next time I’ll try for a lost area too.
Ya but you had to use your orbs correct? What I posted above is what I missing because of my ui.
Yea, you need to use the orb to restore your sanity if you want to do more than just Thrall.

even just doing thrall if you dont use a orb your cutting it close. You gotta remember not everyone is in full mythic gear balls to the wall dps. I suggest using one orb before going in to give you more time.
Well, I’ve wasted three vials now trying to do Horrific Visions as resto druid. The first time with no orb was impossible. The second time the console would not spawn because of some kind of bug and I had no idea what the problem was and then went ahead and died. Then I discovered I should have just dropped the quest and took it again to get the console to spawn. I was then able to get the orb and complete a few.
Now this week with Stormwind, I discovered there is no way to survive the guards without interrupting. Or so that’s what it seems. The thing is: resto druids have no interrupts. Hence now with another vial down the drain, I am just going to have to wait till next week and do Orgimmar with no guards that kill you near instantly.
Thanks Blizzard. Time to learn to play a dps druid or other dps spec and forget healing when some have gone years without doing that? The thing is: by the time some of us learn it will be time for Shadowlands and who can be bothered?! Or no? Then what? More content that can’t be done by healers?
Maybe it’s time to hang up the healing gloves and tank gloves for good and just roll a DH. They are uber and easy. Why learn a dps spec like Balance Druid when it is a lot easier to just roll a DH and be done with it??? That seems to be what Blizzard wants tanks and healers to do with their DPS only content they are forcing on tanks and healers.
Maybe down the road an all DH dps group could get down everything super fast so there will be no need for tanks or healers, lol. Besides, who cares that wait times for healers and tanks can be long? Let’s make the wait even longer!!

I’ve done 3 (?) visions this week with this guy in resto spec. I take feral affinity, and crucible of flame for my main essence. After that I just keep refreshing all of my DoTs until the mob is dead (two bleeds and two magic DoTs) and I am able to do two areas and alleria in time.
As for the guards, take mighty bash for an interupt to their void shift, and dodge the rift strike attack and you’re good to go.
But if you really want to do a DPS spec, I would pick Boomkin. Just keep sunfire/moonfire up and spam solar wrath and lunar strike when they’re procced, and starsurge when you can. That’s literally the whole spec.

This entire thread is beyond ridiculous.
You’re a Druid. You can be any specialization you want with a simple click of a button.
This isn’t burning crusade. You don’t need to carry around 4 sets of gear. You don’t need to hearth to moonglade to respec your talent trees.
Open the book and swap to Balance.
Dont even bother swapping trinkets and azerite traits. Just swap to balance and attack things. I promise it will die faster than attempting to do the same as resto.
Cut the crap with all this “I don’t wanna learn a new spec” talk. Or “balance isn’t fun”.
Is failing visions fun?!

Actually the part about needing to interrupt is a lie. Just step outside of the big bad circles. I did it as demo lock.

Visions can definitely be soloed as Resto. I’ve done all of mine that way so far.
As others have mentioned, the guards in front of Alleria’s room don’t need to be interrupted. Just don’t stand in the purple swirlies. This is a good rule in general. There are some guys in Old Town that channel a 5s stun on you that really hurts. You can interrupt that with Mighty Bash or Typhoon (I prefer Typhoon for the shorter cool down, and ability to interrupt multiple mobs). Alternatively, you can pre-HoT yourself to survive the beating, or just focus them down.
Resto may not be the optimal spec for soloing visions, but at least in these early stages, it can definitely be done.
Are off specs really not a thing anymore? You really think that rolling to a different class is the better option? I just don’t understand. I play Druid, Monk, Rogue, and DH at I wouldn’t say a high level but I’ll stick with medium. Like m10’s and heroic raiding isn’t a stretch. My druid has full access to feral, guardian, and resto at the click of a button. My DH has both havoc and vengeance. My monk has ww, mw, and brm sets. My rogue…rogues. I’m just saying, I have a family, a job, I have the same time constraints everyone else does. If I can do it on 4 toons, someone else can do it on one. Dear lord.
