Vision's as Main Healer or Boomkin?

Hey everyone,

I have been working on my new main a Resto druid and I am working on getting my cloak up in levels. Alot of the time I do them with my wife who is a mage and afew solo. My question is, should I be doing them in healer spec for the less health of the mobs? Or should I do them in Boomie spec? My gear is all stat picked towards healing, but i do have some extra armor I swap out for Boomie. On Boomie I do between 20-30k dps and I think on my Resto it is in the 10-12k range.

Any insight is well appreciated, thanks for all responses.

Repost on my druid if anyone wants to see my gear.

I too would like to know. I’m 450 resto and level 6 cloak as I just came back a few weeks ago. Was thinking of trying it as resto with feral affinity instead of switching to a dps spec like I have been.

Yeah It is something I have wondered, and wasting 10k to test sucks.

It seemed easiest as Guardian to me, but I usuallt do it as Balance because I can finish the run faster. The last thing I want is to spend more time in horrific visions. They feel pretty much the same as island expeditions to me. Maybe even more tedious.

Boomy should be easier than resto, if you are using the ghastly goulash food. The buff pretty much gives you all the healing you need.

Any spec is viable for visions, but I would suggest having a boomkin set of gear for bosses. I play guardian/boomkin for orgrimmar and resto/boomkin for stormwind. Orgrimmar trash tends to hit harder.

If you only have the gear for one spec, I’d pick boomkin.

You can switch spec in visions? I never even tried that. I just assumed they wouldn’t let you.

Yes, you can switch specs (and even talents/essences with a tome).

Thanks. That’s really valuable information. Especially for Alleria. It’s pretty hard to kill her with 4-5 masks, since the floor gets covered with junk. Seems like poor game design in a way…

I always do my visions solo as resto, and a friend of mine does them in balance. Probably which ever spec you’re most confident with will work best.

From what I’ve read it seems like all druid specs are viable for visions, though I’ve not heard much in regards to feral.

0 mask full clear I use boomy, 5 mask idk probably would still use boomy. Pretty sure it’s just personal preference. I do find boomy really easy though.

Feral is very much viable for soloing. I’d even say that if you are equally skilled/geared with Balance and Feral, Feral is probably the better of the two specs to run them as.

She’s really not that bad either. One of the biggest mistakes I see people making is not kicking the bombs away. If you kick the bombs away there is a lot more room to work and the fight seems much easier.

When doing them as boomy, should I use guardian affinity for the damage reduction? I’m pretty new to boomkin, so when I get a group of 3+ mobs should I dot them all and drop starfall? I have the ghastly goulash food as well.

Also regarding the boomkin priority, should I spend all of both empowerment’s before hitting starsurge?

Appreciate any help!

This is largely personal preference, but i will use resto affinity 10/10 times myself. I’d rather have more options to heal myself when I get into bad situations than damage reduction. I feel as though boomkins don’t take enough damage to justify it unless you overpull mobs.

Again, personal preference here… but I prefer baked voidfin. The idea is to avoid CC and movement speed really helps getting to places and avoiding CC.

Yes, but starsurge is generally pretty great for mobs too. I’ll usually prioritize that after casting an initial starfall. Your dots will do enough to bring the HP down pretty quickly.

I honestly prioritize starsurge over the empowerments, but balance is about not overcapping on astral power but also not overcapping empowerment procs. Always dump astral power as long as you don’t overcap the empowerments.

Get as much Twilight Devastation you can handle and go guardian.
