Is there an ilvl to shoot for to complete multiple wings of visions as bear for the dps requirement? Or do the buffs you eventually buy though the vision currency enough to compensate for it?
I was 445 on my bear from last season and was able to start hitting side areas around rank 3 or 4 of the cloak.
I would switch to feral (my main spec) for the boss fights, but use guardian to pull a bunch of trash and mow it down.
If you are able to do decent single target damage as bear, then you could stay guardian the whole run.
In my case, I had better gear for feral and was able to finish boss fights faster.
Come to think of it, this was before they nerfed the hp for tanks and healers.
Should be doable in the 430/440 range, so long as you have rank 3 or higher cloak and some of the titan research stuff done.
The biggest thing that helped me out early on was to pull a little more than I felt safe with. It helped make up for the sanity drain from lower cloak ranks.
I was about 455 when i full cleared as bear, resto was easier at 450
I’m not sure about iLvl requirements, so I won’t suggest anything there… can’t say I ever really paid attention to that while running them on my bear, but I will say that your cloak rank, and your research tree matter quite a bit. The higher your cloak rank, the more sanity protection you get… which means you have more time, basically. The research tree provides you with damage increases, damage reduction, more sanity, and speed and haste buffs. All of this translates into a better run.
You do need to bring some extra damage when you’re going to push masks; however, this isn’t too difficult to achieve - especially post-hotfix (on solo Tank/Healer runs, enemies have less HP). I mean, you can always double up on some DPS corruptions, and swap essences. To date, I’ve done a 3 mask full clear in the SW vision with my bear… looking to repeat this week in the Org vision, and then go for a 4 mask full clear.
Seeing as I PVP a lot, I stack a fair amount of versatility (for increased damage mostly), and run essences for versatility on top of this… as such, I don’t really swap them out when I’m doing visions. I let the versatility provide me with my extra damage; however, in the beginning, I was running crucible major (AKA “Fireball”) for extra damage on elites and bosses. Is this an optimal setup? Probably not. The thing is, I’ve also been working on maxing my DPS for quite some time. My stats are all stacked for damage, not survivability - hence my low mastery. That’s probably the only reason I can get away with this shoddy setup.
In the beginning, what I did anyways, was to focus on the quest objective: don’t push your luck, and waste a vision. Cloak rank, first and foremost. The research tree will get filled up as you go along. You don’t even have to try… you’ll wind up with more mementos than you even know what to do what to do with.
Hopefully this helps a little.
I did a 4 mask full clear but I have not been able to do a 5 mask as bear. Having half the sanity along with mobs having 125% more hp just makes things really hard for bear damage. If they had not nerfed echoing void…
I did my first 5 mask as a bear this week and it wasn’t to much worse then 4. Just gotta pay attention and avoid all mechanics as fights last alot longer. Biggest issue for me is always Rexar but I feel he actually gets easier with more masks (more HP means boar spawn slower).
I didn’t find that ilvl was the biggest issue. Once you have a high cloak it is easier but the biggest thing for me was getting a couple pieces with Twighlight Dev on them. Once I got the two I’m wearing clearing a 5 mask was no issue. Even at this ilvl I only needed 1 orb with proper tracking and use of Gift of Titans. Org is easier but knowing the route makes a big difference.
Ok, I am impressed and must be doing something seriously wrong if you completed a 5 mask in that gear Bearysack and only using 1 orb. I don’t suppose you would want to post a video of your run? I have watched other classes run but I would love to see a bear run a 5 mask using 1 orb to see how in the world they cope with the length of the fights and even passive sanity loss.
2 stacks of twilight devastation, and rank 15 cloak.
If their tree is filled out enough it could be done.
Just have to pull really smart and make good use of vision food and the pots in the vision.
Have to be a pretty smooth run still though.
Really just need to get your cloak leveled up, and change your talents/neck around the vision, like using crucible to get more single target and ranged damage for SW last boss, but use anima to aoe blow up rexxars boars. Also use the 2% healing food buff and 2% healing potion. If you do that you can change both your trinkets to DPS and switch from resto affinity to balance affinity. Twilight dev will obviously help but it is beatable without. Use a weak aura to track potions and gift of the titans buff so you can time gift around difficult fights. Hardest bosses are Rexxar, Alleria, and Shaw, use your drums on them. Know which mobs are the most dangerous and when you can pull big vs when you need to slow down. Your biggest danger is the 400% sanity drain, so for example at the start of the drag, if you pull the first mini boss all the way down the drag, you will probably get stunned or feared or otherwise cc’d in the chaos and he will eat your sanity alive.
I’ve never done a video but I can try. I should say the one orb run was .Org which is much easier. The Stormwind one today took all three but part of that is because I forgot which potion was the good sanity so I couldn’t grab any. The rustbolt trinket is also very helpful as it is great single target garage which I needed.
For some reason I logged in my resto set so that is not what I ran in. I’ll try and record one…
Some of the madness are just so annoying. Split personality coupled with the one that fears you, and it spawns right in the middle of the split personality, fearing you into one of them which stuns you while you are standing in the sanity draining ground that spawned under your feet due to that mask. I can do a 4 mask ok, Stormwind or Org but jumping to that half sanity mask…
Wtf is a mask? New to visions just started soloing. At 7.
Once you complete a vision in its entirety (all zones and final boss) you get a mask. Then once you clear portions while wearing that mask you get access to more masks.
The masks, when worn, add mechanics and make the mobs hit harder, ect. But if you clear while wearing more and more masks, up to 5, your gear reward gets better. Up to a 470 corrupted piece at a full clear with 5 masks.
Thank you so much. I didn’t know where to find this information in game.
Also note you unlock two masks from stormwind and two from orgrimmar. This means that on your first week of doing mask runs, you can only do up to 3 at a time.
The buffs compensate. I was 447 on my bear and completed it with ease. Cloak+buffs trivialize it after a certain point. Assuming no masks that is.
I haven’t had any problems with Visions as a Bear. I don’t run them a lot, usually just 1-2 times per week to keep my cloak fully maxed and a farm run for momentos. I have completed 3 mask runs fairly easy. I feel that I could do 5 mask runs after a few attempts to get the feel for it.
I have a friend that runs them Resto with the Feral Affinity (no masks) each week for his cloak without any issue. He is going to try a few with masks and see how it works out for him.
the difference between 3 masks and 4 is significant and so is a 5 mask, I do not need any orbs for 3 mask runs, a couple for 4 mask but I do not think I can do a 5 mask run yet without some major prep
Yeah I can do a 4 mask run while watching Netflix but I have not yet managed a 5 mask run…it is that big of a difference cutting your sanity in half.
