Virus or normal behavior from Agent.EXE

Hi Team,

I was infected with a virus & I went through extensive removal of it with a kind tech team on a different site.

  • By the time we removed it, too much damage had been done to my OS and my SSD was already on its last leg.
  • I bought new SSD + clean installed it from a usb. Everything is fast and working now.

Why I’m Here:

  • I’m hoping an employee can give me peace of mind about a permission request from Agent.exe that seems suspicious (Battle.net/Agent.exe were infected last install).

What I was doing:

  • It occurred shortly after I finished installing WZ2 - but immediately after I had plugged in my Finalmouse Starlight via USB

  • The app asks to be granted the ability to make changes with admin privileges. I clicked the “more details” option because it seemed weird that there was an update on WZ2… right after finishing + it was oddly timed with the mouse I just connected.

The Request Reads: ( I’ replaced some numbers ):

" User Account Control
Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?

Verified publisher: Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.
File origin: Hard drive on this computer
Program location: " C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent\Agent.8093\Agent.exe"
–loglevel=4 --adminport=(1234) – session=64149823918298293892

To continue, enter an admin user name and password."

(admin profile name)
DESKTOP-12345(my desktop)(admin profile) "

Does such a request normally include these?

Much love,
-Nick

Windows 10 Home OS
I made an admin account & a password for it
I then made & switched to a standard account
I’m signed in with my Microsoft account

Howdy Waterfish!

It’s not uncommon for the app to ask for permissions like this,
especially when playing CoD games. After looking over the request I can confirm that is one from the app and very normal.

Hopefully that gives you some piece of mind!

Do you happen to know what its talking about with loglevels and admin ports?

When I execute windows apps and they request admin privleges theres nothing about ports.

If not, no worries and thank you!
