Most players who go out into the World of Warcraft Classic are likely well acquainted with the current state of botting in Azeroth. Sometimes you’ll see druid, mage, hunter compositions coming out of Sunken Temple or Purple Maraudon to reset the instance. Other times, you’ll encounter non-interactive players somewhere during your travels in the open world. They’ll turn on a dime, move in a robotic manner, have bad gear, and completely ignore you while they grind away.
Lately, I have been seeing them in more blatant locations like the area outside of Kargath with the highest elemental earth drop chance. They’ll be running a circuit in the early to mid 40s cranking out some automated levels while making serious bank off of elemental earth.
I don’t know why I’m structuring a narrative here. my main question is there: has Blizzard addressed this in a blue post? If not, can we get some sort of player interaction out of Blizzard on this matter? Several high view videos on youtube and posts on here and reddit seem to have done little motivate Blizzard to crackdown on botting. It’s a pretty enormous let-down that it seems this will just continue until the game is completely overtaken by non-player character.
Dude are you kidding me why did you have to post this? Now everyone’s going to argue with you and the point is gonna be lost.
The point:
Botting is against the ToS and there are several hundred bots per servers. What is Blizzard’s response? Even a “we do not have the resources to combat this problem” would be something.
They dont ban any bots, and try to not ban as many bots as they can to keep the bot accounts running. Bot accounts just give another $15 a month for them.
I played on your server when I was a bit younger some years ago, moving there from Moon Guard, and before that, Steamwheedle Cartel. I loved to RP. It was a good time.
In the spirit of the creativity that role playing helped instill in me, I tried to come up with a creative title to bring attention to an important in-game problem. Sorry if you felt offended.
There shouldn’t be any arguments to begin with. I simply told the hard core truth and the majority of people know its the truth.
The only people that would want to argue is the NPC & sheep minded individuals that believe in everything that the mainstream media tells them.
I’ve talked with people in classic that even said that they have bot accounts going, and they’ve been botting for months nonstop and nothing was done to their bot accounts.
Bot programs usually require you to buy the program from someone from third party sites. Nobody should trust those sites, it only ends badly for the buyer imo, and ends with your account getting stolen or hacked by some Asian/indian scammer that wants to sell your hard earned gold.
Saw your post in a different thread about botting. You are adamant that this is a non-issue, even though there are 10+ botting instance groups farming Stratholme, ST, and mara on your server as I type this. Not to mention the coast of Azshara, the mountains of Alterac.
Ya man. I’d never give any info to a 3rd party program like that. I was being super sarcastic towards Blizz because they really don’t seem to care. Sounds like your friends are still going though, so I suppose not all those sites are bad.
“Time is money friend.” It’s no longer about the quality of the product. It’s about just keeping a % hooked in. If it slips, bump their interest again while diving in to the coin vault like Scrooge Mcduck.
They also don’t need to worry about making classic good because we’re all moving on to BC anyway. Personally I’d rather have just started in BC, and not even bothered with this, but Blizzard had to milk this first. The upside is that we can still use the time to prelevel characters. Get 60, get your epic mount, get skills to 300, then unsub if you want.
Pretty much what I’ve done. I finishing my Rank 10 grind a few weeks ago, so I’m just on clock ticking away time. I should of not even resubbed back in February. At this point, I’m not even sure I’m coming back for TBC I don’t like how they’ve handled this at all. So much is wrong with it, and it was taking until 8pm on tuesdays to see my honor update. It’s not like they an indie company.
Seeing something you dislike isn’t something that Blizzard cares about. They can’t base their planning on “what Lait likes to see”. No amount of forum complaints or GM posts about “seeing” bots (or players who are probably bots) mean anything to anybody.
You need to prove that these bots are hurting your gameplay.
There is no such thing as “a game where all cheating is eliminated”. It has never happened. It never will happen. It is not Blizzard’s goal, for the simple reason that it is impossible. Blizzard could bankrupt the company TRYING, and they would still fail to “eliminate” bots.
