Villans of wow

First off ill just say that we didnt have a single good villan since Garrosh in wow, and Xalatath might be heading down the same path as others.

Sure all the main villans are bad guys, but apart from that they need to have evil intents and commit gruesome acts on their own accord, as we saw Arthas whilst being manipulated didnt hesitate to kill his own family and sloughter everyone close to him in order to achieve his goals. Garrosh killed off anyone who didnt agree with him and just wanted to enslave everything with no higher goal in mind.

But recent villans like Jailer who are doing something for greater good just dont sit well with people.

Sylvanas was on a good path to be hated by everyone but than Blizz went ahead and gave her redemption story, why??? One thing a good villan has is nerve to go out with pride, as we saw Garrosh didnt even budge from his behavior even after being tortured in maw for all those years and went out with a bang( a true badas).

A perfect ending for Sylvanas story that would satisfy everyone and even those that wanted her redeption would be when we battle Anduin, he is struggling to take controll back, he sees Sylvanas that forced him into being a monster and he stabs her in rage, she is suprised but than… She forgives him for it as her final act of redemption. Anduin realising what he has done takes back control from Jailer and is freed.

BOOM, that right there is perfect in my opinion. Sylanas gets what she deserves and shows us that in the end she is able to forgive and understand. Also this scenario would play much better into current Anduin struggling to cope with what he has done( what has he done really in this timeline? Stole covenant sigils and obayed Jailer for a while?

[SPOILER AHEAD]

Im telling you all this because i see Xalatath missing the oppritunities to be good villan, this new trailed could of been perfect if we saw her killing Khadghar as was speculated, or even if she was torturing him while talking. But instead she is being portrated as mastermind that has it all planned out.

To be fair the issues with Shadowlands go so far beyond the Jailer thinking they’re doing it for the greater good and Sylvanas getting a redemption arc. The writing was just bad all around.

That said while I don’t think a good villain needs to be all kicking puppies and burning orphanages, Xal’atath should be unquestionably evil in her acts by the end of the arc.

However it’s pretty standard with void entities in Warcraft that they’re supposed to be manipulative masterminds that have it all figured out. She needs to have a point that makes us think maybe she’s not actually the baddie, but by the end of it all we realize it was just her trying to play us and she’s really just evil through and through.

Just please… no more ā€œI was only doing this to save you from an even greater threat!ā€.

The writing has been bad for many years, this isn’t something that is new.

Jeez, these cinematics are so epic… :star_struck:

Every time I hear the in the Light we are One, my mind always think also of Death and wonder if the deal made by this Cosmic Forces has to do with how singular minded these philosophies seem to be, then again I’m not sure with ā€œwhoā€ the light made the Bargain with in the Death Patheon… since the Jailer has been unmade.

Ah, this kind of cinematics really get my imagination going overdrive over the lore! I’ll be back WoW, just need to Void Jump to the ESO universe for a bit and deal with this new Deadric Prince then rift travel to D2 and fight the Witness, I’ll be back in between patches, to check on Azeroth!

I’ve always meant to jump into ESO but I got distracted by life so I never login to my game at launch. I’m certain it hasn’t been too long-- TEN YEARS! :robot::interrobang:

Well I’m so jelly at you! You have SOOOOO much story to go through now! 10 years of content then!

Anyway it’s a big deal now for the first time in er… I don’t know how long we got a NEW Deadric Price to deal with, she is really cool… still not sure what she embodies but I guess we will find out!

Anyway you should just download it to get all the free stuff just by login, being given celebrating the 10 years anniversary, that is if your interested!

My gosh I feel old! haha :dracthyr_crylaugh:

EDIT: Ahg nvm what I said… this is a WoW forums sorry!

Daddy D.

And Garrosh wasn’t a good villian.

Spoil a major story beat in a minor trailer, are you nuts?

Iridikron, but he’s more of a Worldsoul Saga villian now.

That is called a spoiler. There are players that do not frequent the forums and have no idea. Why would they put it in a trailer?

Garrosh was a ā€œgoodā€ villain, you say?

Uhh… well, I can only guess that WoW’s perpetual low standards are probably the only reason that would be perceived as the case. I mean, it came across as borderline character assassination for him to sudden shift towards being warmongering jerk with no regard for what little there was of his past character development.

Make no mistake, the handling of many of the recent villains has definitely been worse.

But Garrosh was never a good villain.
He was merely… passable.

I’d argue that the Thunder King was a much better villain, simple as he was, but he was out of the picture so quickly that it came across as a waste of the character’s potential. Then again, that could have been for the best; given the state of WoW’s writing over the years, he was removed from the board before the writers could screw him up too.

But in some fairness, while I generally don’t care… I sat through the recent trailer for the next expansion.

Wow, what a wet fart of a trailer.

I could only guess they were going for some kind of emotion, but there was no way of delivering that with what they were showing. The speech was needlessly cryptic and rather pointless as characters either look into the distance wistfully or grumble over something else.

Generic evil looms in the distance, ~woooooooo~oooooooooo~

I would have called the trailer ā€œinoffensiveā€ based on the first impression, but this attempt at describing it is starting to become infuriating with how undercooked and pointless it comes across as.

The true villains were always the Burning Legion. Part of the reason I don’t even log in anymore since the end of Legion.

All of the villains have been lack luster at best.

There are two eternal Villains that strike at the worst times.

First is Lag who strikes fear into every Dungeon, Raid and PvP Arena or BG, just when you’re fighting that epic battle and then you find your self running on the spot for 45 seconds or taking 30 seconds to cast that instant cast spell then suddenly Death! THE HORROR! :scream:

Then there’s Lag’s big brother, DC! You’re running that Mythic+ Dungeon or Raid and everything is going honky dory then suddenly BAM! You find yourself on the login screen with a ā€œYou have Disconnectedā€.
To make things even worse when you come back you find yourself with the dreaded ā€˜deserter’ buff as you’ve been kicked out of the group! The despair becomes unbearable and so you begin to hate life! :sob:

Fyrr’akk was a great villain in DF though, unfortunately, he didn’t receive an appropriately awesome death scene.

Since I won’t be able to play for a while because of how short I am on money and won’t be able to pay for a subscription, no longer have a PC, and am currently stuck with a laptop, I’ll keep tabs. So far, I’m disappointed with the Earthern Dwarves, the trailer for the expansion with Anduin and Thrall is emo-boy trauma vibes, and Alleria as a villain isn’t hyping me up. A lot of what I was hoping for isn’t reaching expectations for me so far. New content, not impressive. The direction the game is headed in is steering me away from the game. Not good for the company and not good for sales. Lore wise isn’t doing it, the copy-paste troll elf half-furry race, okay that’s gotten me interested. Probably worth sticking around for. Let’s see what else happens and if I come back to play and sub for, I’m hoping the change in direction and the WoW magic returns the way it was. I’m probably getting my hopes up and I don’t why I bother. I’ve called this game home for 12-13yrs and it doesn’t feel, hear and look the same. Who knows, either I cut losses with WoW and Blizz and not come back hoping for the better or nothing changes and they lose a loyal player. It hurts to see what the game and company has become.

Dragonflight Iridikron playing 4D chess he 100% knew what would happen that the Bronze Dragons would have no choice but to take care of the infinites to maintain the one true timeline playing them both.
