Viewing the mount collection

Add achievements for each mount so we can view other players’ collections. Maybe not everyone needs this, but personally, I enjoy looking through achievements and characters, seeing their history, and when they earned certain things.

Alternatively, you could add a stable inspection feature instead of achievements — but achievements would be more convenient, since I honestly don’t know how to make stable inspection user-friendly.

You know if Blizzard added achievements for obtaining out collections, our achievements would set for the date that Blizzard added in the achievement, not the date we originally got the collections.

It’s no big deal — just the ability to compare mount collections would already be a nice addition.

The nice part is, we can already do this in game. You just have to target someone else and compare achievements. Although I don’t tend to compare my character to anybody else because I really don’t care what everybody else is up to or what they’ve collected. If I want to know what they are riding I will just target them and then hover over the mount.

You can’t, the only mounts you can actually check are the ones that award a Feat of Strength.

Well, I stand by my previous. The only reason to compare collections would be to get one over on someone, or rub it in their face. The entire idea of comparison has a competitive base, so it stands to reason the ONE good thing that could come of such a feature will easily produce far more negative things.

I’ve never seen anyone get flamed for having or not having a mount, except during loot rolls within a raid.

We have achievements for arena ratings — that’s the only area where people get judged for not having certain achievements.

Collectors aren’t affected by this.

Your mileage may vary, but I sat there during the mounts’ event of the 20th Anniversary and after every round closed, I would see people off to the side in open chat trashing someone for not having one of the easiest mounts in the game. No regard for who they were, how long they were playing, if it was someone’s kid’s account. Not everyone has the easy ones, and since then I have made a point to mount up and move on. It’s not a competition. But the fine folks on Stormrage, Area-52, and Proudmoore all seem to turn it into one. My experience.

I have no idea what you’re trying to say. My opinion remains the same: I want the ability to see other players’ mounts and for them to be able to see mine in the game.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s an achievement for each mount or a stable inspection feature.

And I respect your opinion and your wish for such a feature. And doing so you should also respect my opinion that I’m not interested in having this feature because of potential ramifications. It’s just a discussion. I’m not shutting you down. I’m just saying I don’t agree. Hopefully that was as plain spoken as possible.

I can’t even imagine any negative consequences from someone being able to view my mount collection — or me being able to view theirs.

The worst that could happen is someone jokingly saying in a tavern, “Haha, I have this mount and you don’t.” That’s the absolute worst-case scenario.

I don’t understand how someone could be so sensitive as to consider that a bad thing.
Personally, I find it interesting to inspect other players. In fact, this feature would motivate people to farm more mounts and give them a sense of direction for what to do when they’re not sure how to spend their time in-game.

I’m probably the furthest person from sensitive. But there are people out there who are sensitive. Our experience is not like everyone else. It’s important to remember there are millions of people playing this game and everyone thinks and feels differently. So it’s necessary to make sure that everything is at least examined before implementing. That’s all I’m saying.

Oookay

I mean, I could’ve just come out, shot it down, and railed about how blizzard barely has time to make decent content let alone add some obscure feature that five people might use. But I wanted to hear your opinion, and I wanted to respect your position. :+1:t2:

… you want them to spend the time to add another 1,000 achievements to the game, just so you can inspect someone’s mounts? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Since it’s not in game and probably won’t be, you do have access to the armory where all that is listed.

Or the ability to view someone’s stable, yeah. If my understanding is correct, adding a single achievement to the game takes no more than 7 minutes. All they need to do is plug the mount icon into a ready-made template and write some text like “Obtain this mount.”

There are plenty of things in the game now that weren’t there before. The Armory is a poor solution — it’s not an in-game tool. To use it, you have to tab out, go to the website, search for the character, and if their name contains an Alt code, that can be quite a hassle. And even then, you still can’t compare mounts or see which ones they have that you don’t.

That’s a strange claim to make. Or did you think I wasn’t aware of the Armory’s existence?

It’s not strange at all. I was trying to be helpful.

Thanks for the help, but the Armory being outside the game makes it inconvenient for me.

I don’t know about this, i’d find it handy to compare mounts with someone in order to work out if we have any common goals/white whales that we’re still missing. I don’t think a compare mount/pet function would do any harm. I know there’s a lot of toxicity in this game, but collectors are usually pretty nice to each other.

I know we can already do this with outside websites (Simplearmory ect), but an in-game option would be nice.
