[Video] Tip's Out on Layering

Watch all of it before knee jerking. Both sides, please

First it was only going to be introduced during the launch week and only in the leveling zones 1-15. Now they moved it to all zones and throughout the whole phase 1. No.

Glad to see you watched it.

4 minutes in, and I still haven’t heard anything about potential fixes :stuck_out_tongue: Tips likes to talk. He’s got good videos for people not paying attention though.

I watched to the end and he actually had some solid stuff. But yea, took a while to get to.

The limited zones was based on Sharding and not Layering. Sharding is capable of doing specific zones, but it ultimately does not solve the problem that Blizz would face over time. Layering is unfortunately the best solution we have. Knowing this though is not a bad thing as we can instead focus efforts on thinking of solutions that look to improve the issues faced with layering rather than trying to get rid of it

The best solution I have come up with is what I refer to as Layer Locking. Its a rather simple idea that when a player hops into another layer, they incur a penalty that makes them incapable of jumping for a given amount of time. I suggest 30 minutes as an example. So whether a friend invites you into another layer or you log into another layer, this penalty would be incurred. This allows layering to keep its strengths and limit the primary weakness it has.

He is just quoting stuff already said. I know all this information and I will continue watching, but I doubt I’d care much for his personal opinion.

It is not his job to find solutions. His part is to promote and pay 15$ a month.

I don’t watch/listen to people who wear skinny jeans, lack of circulation does things to the brain.

And that is your prerogative.

Immediately became skeptical when Tipsout said that vanilla launch was a complete disaster. I see what he did there. He set up his audience to basically have to accept layering no matter what. Nice try.

Launch in 2004 wasn’t a disaster. There were issues, I remember queuing but the sky certainly wasn’t falling leading to a PR disaster of epic proportions. The game was good, damn good and people played through it. I’d hope server tech is a little more advanced 15 years after the fact?

He’s not a developer working for Blizzard.
His opinion is no more valid than anyone else’s on layering.

Expand that to the first 6 months. We had so many queues and server crashes people seriously thought the game would fold.

Did this guy play in vanilla?

I continue to not give a rat’s rump what a streamer has to say.

He’s actually more of a youtuber.

I will listen to perspectives wherever I can find them. . Even here

Lol, first post out of the gate obviously didn’t watch it.

He’s a WoW Pundit. His videos tend to be opinion pieces.

El, we are all wow pundits trying to be heard over the noise. All our posts tend to be opinion pieces.

And for the record, I disagree with WAY more that he comes up with than agree.
