Video Games on Film, straight up adaptions or loose?

I don’t get it. The new RE looks good, but way, way to close to the remake games and some parts of the original 2. It is like copy and paste. I loved the first 6 Re movies because they were barely anything like something I had already went through a dozen times. Same with the Warcraft movie, changes in design, story, race, etc was fine with me.

They did this with huge blockbuster and critical successes on books like Lord of the Rings yet…no one noticed? Hmmm perhaps video gamers are to serious about something, no serious? Anyway share your thoughts.

The issue with the live action resident evil films was just a mary sue took the spotlight which sucked. Seriously the woman who plays Jill in the second movie DID SUCH A GOOD JOB YET OH NO HERE COMES FREAKING ALICE TO HOG ALL THE ATTENTION.

Then you have other instances like the original version of the live action sonic. They went waaaaaaaay too off in another direction. The upgrade was much more “Yup that’s actually Sonic” instead of AHHHHHHHHHHHH MAKE IT GO AWAY WHY DID THEY GIVE HIM TEETH LIKE THAT. This is kinda why Detective Pikachu was good. It’s off doing their own thing but still being a nice blend of cgi without looking too outlandish and out of place. You look at Pokemon in that movie and you’d think “Ah yeah they totally belong there” and it works.

One video game movie I actually really like is the first Silent Hill movie. That one changed a few plot elements but it was so they could have their own version of the first Silent Hill game. I can’t say the same for the 2nd movie however. That one was garbage.

My other gripe. Well. Its more a nitpick with Silent Hill. ( Other than Pyramidhead being there. Yes I love Pyramidhead but he’s James’ monster. ) I thought it was odd they used one specific song. I totally get WHY they did it but hang on I’ll explain

I’m talking about this one

It’s probably the song everybody thinks of when Silent Hill is brought up. What I didn’t like was that the movie has nothing to do with Angela from SH2. I know the song is used a few times in that game but to me I always connected it to Angela. Because of that one scene in the game

Knowing the story behind this character, it just bugs me a tiny bit that the movie just has that song. Even if its a lovely song. Its popular so I get it.

Video games can just be interpreted in different ways. You get one bad director that doesn’t “get it” and you end up with garbage like Resident Evil and the live action Monster Hunter.

i totally disagree…also it’d be helpful for you to watch behind the scenes conversations as to why Anderson went with Alice rather then all the main characters as “main” ones in action and conversation. As for Monster Hunter the movie was fine, the games sucked though boring messes.

also the actress who played Jill looked the part for sure, yet tried to hard to act “tough”.

Oh trust me I tried to like his movies and watched behind the scenes stuff
