I just reinstalled the game a few weeks ago on a decently specced gaming laptop but anytime I’m in a major city and occasionally in raids, the game will freeze, “minimize” itself, then return to normal after 3-5 seconds. I don’t get any errors messages in game but in Event Viewer, I get the following; The description for Event ID 0 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
***The following information was included with the event: ***
\Device\Video5 Error occurred on GPUID: 100
The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table
I’ve tried reinstalling my video drivers as that’s the only fix I’ve found for myself, but still no luck. I’ve also tried adding WoW’s exe to Nvidia’s Managed 3d Settings, with no changes noticed, and setting my videocard as default in game at the main menu but it always reverts back to auto. Has anyone ever experienced this?
Our desktop is currently having this issue… I’ve tried reinstalling drivers, making sure the gpu scheduling is turned on in Win 10, and am currently trying to disable MPO in Win 10 to see if that fixes it based on other info I’ve read.
Do a DDU reinstall of the drivers(It’s a pinned thread on the Nvidia forums): https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/1001/wagnard-tools-ddugmptdr-manipulator-new-cpu-core-a/
Also make sure that your Microsoft store is correctly setup and that nothing is blocking the Nvidia installer from accessing it. Nvidia only makes DCH drivers now and they need access to the store, if I recall correctly.
I haven’t tried Pawgwalker’s suggestion yet but if anyone is having a similar issue, disable raytracing ingame. The drivers crash most often when taking a portal to a city so after tweaking the settings while going back and forth through portals a few dozen times, I managed to deduce it down to that graphic setting.
