Video Card Advice

My grandfather’s GPU (GTX 275) got outdated by the (Your 3d accelerator card is not supported) and I need advice on what GPU I should buy him. Was looking at my local BestBuy at a Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB for $182. Would this card be good enough for low-medium settings on WoW? Any help would be appreciated

What is your budget? Are you willing to buy used?

Gtx 1070 is along that price range.(assuming you buy used) It’s a few years old now but still handles WoW well.

Budget is anywhere from $100-$200 and I’d rather buy new.

Wil depend on what Cpu you have to determine how effective a gpu will be (if it’s paired with a GTX 275 it may be old) but currently EVGA sells B-stock 1660’s for $175.

In a vacuum, the 1660 is about 15-20% faster than the 5500xt.

Alternatively, the 1650 Super is slightly faster than the 5500xt (4gb model), and is only $139.

They are refurbished but carry a warranty from Evga.

You’ll need to act fast as it is midweek madness deal.

I’ll check those out. Appreciate the help!

The best value there imo is the 1660.

The 2060 ko for only $259 is a better deal, but that’s a bigger jump in price.

I’ve heard of GTX 1650s go for about ~$100 if you have a Microcenter near you. Any card will be a massive upgrade but I’d be more worried about power consumption at this time.

I think the GTX 275 is a 220w card, so none of the cards in that bracket should be a problem unless the PSU is old enough to blow up

If you get to the store and they have GT 1030s, don’t even consider them. If you save a couple bucks over a GTX 1650, well…
