The war has been over for more then 5 years ingame. Feeding old grudges for no particular gain is foolish.
I think it was the peak the worgen have reached.
Theyāve reclaimed their city.
The worgen no longer have trouble with the Forsaken.
And Genn isnāt needed for Turalyon or Anduin.
Time to retire.
Yes.
Iāll repeat it again, but Blizzard handled this exceptionally poorly.
For starters, the Scarlet Crusade? Really? I get why the Forsaken should be pumped up at the thought of killing more of them, but the Worgen and the Scarlets never clashed. At worst you had some lame propaganda pamphlets floating around written by Scarlets who think Worgen are monsters.
The proper solution here was Godfrey. Bring him back as a Scourge Warlord, raising the dead of the Fourth War to create his own perfect kingdom of Gilneas, with himself as itās eternal undead king. The Worgen have an invested reason in killing him again, and even the Forsaken would (fighting Scourge and the guy who betrayed them at the end of Silverpine).
At the end of the quest, have Liamās corpse there just being brutalized and abused by him for the sheer enjoyment of tormenting his enemies. Drive the fact Sylvanas unintentionally killed Liam out of Gennās mind forever with the image of Godfrey puppeting around his sonās remains like a toy.
Killing Godfrey and sparing Liam undeath wouldāve been the closure Genn would need, and after enduring that? Him passing on the crown wouldāve felt more natural. A grieving father having finally reached his limit passing on the crown so he can mourn in peace wouldāve felt right.
āGrudgesā against a race that killed your friends and family is not something that becomes warm fuzzies and hugs after 5 years.
Fantasy games being unrealistic for a fun story? Shocking
That would have been pretty coolā¦ but I mean, look what they are selling us as an expansion featureā¦ a third recolor of dwarves. So Iām not really surprised about a lazy fox recolor
He is literally not retiring and he is planning on continuing to advise the Alliance!
Then maybe learn some history? My own country suffered terribly from Japan and it ultimately ended up having a peace treaty with them 5 years after their defeat.
No one has to end up liking each other. But no one has to end up killing each other either. Especially when there are third parties we would rather kill instead.
Youre right she isnt a Worgen. Sheās Gilnean, just like all the afflicted and non afflicted humans.
Why is this even a point of discussion as if Worgen are a unique subrace? This only makes sense if other races can also be Worgen and they were all unified under a new banner but culturally all Worgen are just Gilnean humans. So youre Gilnean, get over yourself (referring to any Worgen who believes that theyre special)
Except thatās where Genn will be: helping the Alliance leadership. Like heās been doing.
Iām convinced no one thatās raging in any of these threads had paid attention to the storyline at all.
I still want the Horse carriage mount. And the goblin hot rod
Worgen were originally night elves - druids of the pack, who sought to harness the fury of Goldrinn. And as a human (or a night elf), lorewise, you can also be a Worgen.
But these are not the playable worgens. All the playable worgens are Gilneans(although Blizzard probably wouldnāt care if you considered your character otherwise).
We were cast out of Gilneas and later taught the true nature of our being and how to control it by the night elves. Gilneas is where we started, but itās not as close to us as you might think.
Home city: Gilneas
Sure but likely for appearances. Turalyon has wayyy too many resources to need half of the alliance.
The reason why is that thereās a subset of players on these forums who have made it very clear that they picked Worgen as their race simply because of the werewolf-aesthetic to it. Which to be fair is eminently fair, but a lot of 'em have come out with these weird headcanons for Worgens, Gilneas, Gilneans, the Greymanes, and their relationship with the Forsaken and the Alliance overall. And unfortunately a lot of 'em seem to also go with a slightly misogynistic vibe as wellā¦ thankfully though it is just a very small minority of folks and theyāll quiet down once some time has passed.
But in general this is why this has become a forum topic for a lot of folks.
This is also wrong because Worgens were more akin to an infectious druidic form rather than a race. It is similar to Ursocās blind fury and why he appears the way he does in the Emerald Nightmare raid for an example.
But worgen specifically as a race are ā¦ druids consumed by their druidic forms. They arenāt even night elves anymore, they arenāt any one particular race they are quite literally just the embodiment of Goldrinnās infectious fury of the Emerald Dream.
Heāll be doing the same thing heās been doing even with Turalyon around.
Turaylon is smart and hopefully humble enough to know he canāt do everything. and the Alliance is only strong when it unites and uses its combined might.
That would be true but is your normal form non-human? Nooo
Does your avatar speak in a Gilnean accent? yeees.
And for all intents and purposes, the playable WoW Worgen are all Gilnean. No exceptions.
So therefore, all Worgen are Gilnean and almost every Worgen NPC shows pride in them being Gilnean first and foremost. If they had the narrative where the afflicted humans seceded from Gilneas to form a new nation for the Worgen then people wouldāve had a point about their leader being a non-Worgen. But thats not the case with WoWās Worgen and the Gilneas storyline.
So it makes total sense why Tess would be the one to lead the Gilnean people after Genn.
Meanwhile my Tauren is strutting around in that new Gilnean nobleās suit
