Ha, if only people could control other people to do so. But you can’t. So
I’m not trying to control you i said people can play whatever they want. What I don’t understand is why you purposely make yourself worse.
because some people love the class and the build. Who cares if its crappy for raiding? Who cares if someone else could do it better? Why does everyone have to play the same thing, be the best of the best? You gonna have only mages and warriors then in your raid groups? Damn, hope you never make an MMO lol. You’d have everyone homogenized like retail.
I fully support creative and fun builds, but what about when we get to Naxx. Do you think it’s still going to be that easy? I wonder
I’m not talking about raiding I’m talking about every single aspect of playing this game. You want to solo grind mobs as dps? Warrior is better. You want to run 5 mans as dps? Warrior is better. You want to pvp as dps? Warrior is better. I would like to understand the mentality of people who purposely choose to hamper themselves in every aspect of the game.
You said Naxx lol. Ret Paladins SHINE in Naxx, you knew that right? any paladins do really rofl
I’ve played most content as not the “optimal” spec. I’ve raided as elemental in MC, both AQ, BWL, and poked at Naxx briefly when it was out.
If we only played the most “viable” classes, people would only be playing 3-4 classes and one spec each, ever.
“Viable” Paladin build is whatever gets you through content.
What does “worse” mean to you?
Does lacking Holy Shock make you a terrible Paladin, incapable of any healing?
How about Holy Power, is that a required talent?
A 20/0/31 (21/0/30 if you value Divine Favor more than Repentance) paladin is going to have most of the key healing talents. They’re going to be missing 5% spell crit, Holy Shock, and a couple QoL talents. BUT, they’re going to have DPS talents to farm outside of raids, or possibly run as DPS in dungeon runs, or kill something in PvP. I know, having fun, right!?!
A full Holy build will be marginally more effective in the healing role. But, do you absolutely need that effectiveness for success? Probably not. If you think your paladin lacking Holy Shock is why you’re wiping in raids, then your raid can’t determine why it’s actually wiping.
To me, success in Classic is determined by having fun, not feeling pigeon-holed into speccing a specific way that someone else determines, and being able to participate in a wide variety of activities.
Currently a 36 paladin with points in the Prot tree for Devotion Aura and Points in the Ret tree for blessing of might. The rest of my points are in holy as I’m going to be healing come 60.
I can heal and dps dungeons as I have a full healing set of gear and a full dps set or gear. I’m usually decent dps.
When it comes to questing I always buddy up with someone as solo questing is hell.
F**k the meta. People who played this game 15 years ago have no idea what they’re talking about today. Half the sh*t people said about original vanilla is obviously not true.
Lmk if you need any tips or ideas.
You won’t be killing stuff as good as a warrior.
And you won’t be killing stuff as good as a mage but you didn’t make one, did you?
Who cares? Let them have fun they way they want to, vanilla wasn’t so difficult you couldn’t bring a variety of roles and specs to different types of content including raids. You may not want to bring those roles but it’s not up for you to decide what people do with their time and money or what others will allow/etc.
I didn’t say they couldn’t have their fun they want too. I said I didn’t understand it. Thanks for not explaining it and oh by the way mages can’t wear plate and melee dps.
THIS was perfect this is exactly what I’ve been contemplating not taking divine favor over repentance.
I would say try it out. I know for one thing… ret is not fun to level up as you rely in white hits. I think i might try out a holy/ret spec with more focus in the intel to see what kind of damage i can do with the judements and command.
I was referring to odd builds and non meta specs
one of the best paladins in vanilla had a huge impact on my pally talent choices
what an amazing video, ( amazing soundtrack) hope it helps
To level healing, prot spec is best. Blessing of sanctuary is just that good.
Im having a blast in full holy tree so far.
/shrug
Basically I just finish x zone and heal/dps dungeons till Im slightly higher than he next zone’s min lvl and never have problems, then again Im not rushing anything. Having multiple sets works, the paly lvl20 hammer is godly and has most stats.
People need to do what is fun and not listen to anyone else. This is classic, if anyone tells you you need to do something or else find a better guild/friends.
Shockadin… just to bad once you hit 60 its healer
11/8/32 best way to have fun
