Hey all, I have just renewed my subscription after 10 years and have started a Human Priest. However, I hear a lot of comments now that I don’t remember hearing back in the day regarding Dwarves as the ultimate priest and anything else being a mistake. Is this true or overblown?
I’m not reeeally a Dwarf fan, but I’d be curious to hear about this more
If you can play it, it is viable.
If your friends, guild, dungeon group, raid group, pvp group etc. say it isn’t viable, find better people to play with.
Fear Ward is nice, but not required. And I would never play a dwarf.
They want them for fearward. Basically the min/max crowd or whatever.
I personally think humans are better with the spirit bonus if endurance is what you are after.
Priests are also highly overpopulated so take that into consideration as well.
Human priests are fine. They have more spirit as well.
Fear ward is pretty situational and only useful on a handful of encounters, mostly raiding. Pretty useful in PvP though, but still. You aren’t gimping yourself as a human or anything lol.
Overblown. Fear ward was considered must-have, but it wasn’t really even back then, and it certainly is not now. On the other hand, human’s extra spirit and rep gains are nice.
On the other other hand, twirly braids are OP. So there is that.
What do you mean… Dwarves have the most OP Racial in the game.
FIND TREASURE.
The do have the biggest nose to hunt down that unsuspecting cheese hiding in that chest.
Look, I gave you a like because this is totally true… but you almost lost it for disparaging the amazing dwarven race. You have been warned!
This is honestly the only reason I’m considering making a dwarf priest. 
I’m a human priest. I do just fine and the spirit bonus is quite nice. Dwarves are a dime a dozen nowadays.
What other reason could you possibly need??
Dwarven priests have fear ward, but other than that I can’t think of anything in particular to commend them over the human.
Go night elf for the full priestess of elune experience.
Human priest is the worst alliance priest for pvp.
But its still viable if you want to.
Stoneform should not be overlooked either. It’s the best pvp racial alliance can get.
i leveled as a human priest and now playing one endgame. never had a single person say something about me not being a dwarf. yes dwarf has a better racial spell for endgame pve and pvp but its not req, just slightly better.
Dwarves get a racial that’s pretty solid, but Human priests are still pretty good.
Plus, Humans get a rep bonus. So there’s that.
Priests are overpopulated? Is there any other class that you’d recommend? I’m fairly casual and really like PvP, but would also like to do some PvE endgame when I can. Is Druid as good as Priest in classic? The only classes I have a desire to invest time in would be Priest, Druid, or Hunter probably…
Druids are the least played class from my understanding.
For reference, during prime time if I don’t make a group with a tank and then look for DPS, I can never find a group unless its like 3am. You can always roll shadow for DPS but most groups will take a mage over you.
If you want to play druid you could do that. Tank for dungeons so you can get groups easier. There are also druids tanking end game content on certain bosses.
