Has Blizzard ever attempted to reward players with anything Uber Special based on the age of accounts? Not the annual rewards that ‘everyone’ gets but, put in something justifying a player continuing year after year. That would be a great incentive for really old accounts.
I would imagine that it would create a ton of animosity amongst the player community as newbies (the gimme, gimme, gimme aged peeps) would feel slighted because a player with an account 17 years old would have something they can’t have at 1 month.
Just a thought
Yes, they sent everyone continuously subscribed since the start an orc statue, in 2015.
Criteria required to receive the gift:
** Started playing WoW within 60 days of the game launch in your region*
** A continuous subscription for all 10 years, from launch to the Anniversary*
Well, every patch/expansion has time gated content.
Most notable ones are Mage Tower & MoP challenge set.
As well as Elite PvP gear sets from every expansion, as none of the Elite sets are available for purchase.
Additionally, there are other cosmetic/rewards, along with TCG cards, previous former cross-game promotions that are all gated.
Overall, I feel kinda sorry for folks who require such “validation” ingame, or have any special treatment in any shape of form. I am firm believer that everything should be accessible whether or not player X/Y were present 5 years ago.
I frankly do not care if people go back and earn those rewards. The same way I earned them. I play game for myself. Not to /flex. My life, thankfully, is decent enough so I do not feel the need to /flex ingame over some pixels. Makes me sorry for the ones who want to be special flakes
How curious you’re portraying new players as “gimme, gimme, gimme” peeps while demanding free stuff.
No matter how much you despise new players, the game needs them to maintain a stable population. Shoving something into a new player’s face and insulting him for wanting it is not part of the solution.
