    9 Riding skill cost increased 100%
  9. Professions skill ups cut 33%
  10. AH fees increased 25%
  11. Dungeon lockouts decreased to 2 per hour
  12. Recipe drops, purchases ect all limited and increased in cost 33%
  13. Player vs mob damage cut 25%
  14. Enchants and buffs effectiness cut by 25%

Call it Veterans Server.
Make it difficult and slow the leveling process.

That sounds like a pretty miserable experience to me. While some increase in difficulty might be fun in some form and in some places, reducing drop rates and profession skill gains just sounds… terrible.

Make it also whenever you die you owe blizz a $5 Rez fee

More like, if you die, your account gets deleted and you have to buy another subscription to start over.

Probably be fun but won’t happen here, maybe a private server would do that.

And IMO to do a… not sure what to call… a world where you really have to struggle? type MMO would be a new game. Some indie company would have to make it. Not time consuming but just all fights are intense/hard, etc…

Would definitely be niche.

They did this on UO and called it Siege Perilous.
It was very popular as a server choice.

So a hardcore pve server? Sounds fun but how about we do a hardcore pvp server that doesn’t have factions. Everyone is attackable out in the world.

That was a fun shard to play. Man all of this UO talk is making me nostalgic again…

Other games have things like this, but they usually REWARD you with better loot rewards/drop rates. Seems kind of pointless to make the game harder in every way without any kind of reward for the increased difficulty.

  1. Mounts speed cut 50%
  2. Training costs doubled
  3. One player randomly disconnects every boss fight
  4. Dynamic population caps that guarantee a 1000-person minimum queue
  5. Res sickness always applies regardless of how you were resed
  6. Frame rates cut to 10% of your hardware’s capability
  7. Minimum 1.5 second latency enforced between keypresses
  8. Mouse turning is disabled
  9. Dynamic mechanics that change every time you encounter a given boss, even between wipes

I don’t think your original list sounded miserable enough, so I tacked on a few more for good measure.

On a more serious note, players who want to add this level of misery to the game have entirely too much time on their hands, IMO.

Cataclysm set the bar in that regard with their initial Heroic Dungeon implementation. Nothing drove players away like raid-level difficulty with substandard gear rewards. I still marvel that I remained subbed throughout that expansion.
