Servers are empty right now. Out of every 2 raiders I talked to who were active in SL, one has already quit. My server is the most popular and population always full but out of the top 25 guilds, you can see half are dead and not even putting up recruitment threads.
I was about to pre purchase but now I think better save and wait. It’s a big risk looking at the amount of (or lack of) hype and the abysmal continuation rate of players on my server.
Hunters as an example have a class discord that’s totally sanguine. Read many comments of hunters saying they aren’t coming back for Df and the main reason is spec balance. Most hunters you see like playing MM and having that spec doing less than half the damage of affliction is a big let down.
Next week we’ll se a large surge of players as that’s when the actual pre-patch event starts and Dracthyr unlocks.

I am taking time getting everything squared away before DF prepatch actually starts next week (got a couple more steam games to finish off) but then I will be back to my normal schedule for gaming.
Yes, because they usually come back at the start of the expansion.
This expansion has basically no major controversial features. Also no big baddie, just fun time on island. Unless people are hyped for talent trees and professions, there is not much else.
If you believe that then you are incredibly gullible. Hunters will forever be the easiest spec to play , and is always the top pick of the most noob friendly class and there going to be a lot of hunters coming into DF
If the top 25 leaves they will be replaced by the next 25 and so on and so forth. What you need to worry is if the reverse happens that every one leaves and only top stays then we are in a wildstar situation where they have world first chase and nobody knows about it let alone care.
I can’t even find one guild on my server. Every community I apply for either doesn’t respond because no one is there to do so, or there are 2-3 people in the supposed 9999 player strong community actually online.

after 18 years…it becomes less and
less mysterious…
even to a slow learner like myself…
they have no interest in balancing the
specs and classes…they believe that controversy
breeds interest in the game…
that is my impression of their motivations.
i have always loved the game/and always
hated developer manipulations.
