I for one think the outcry of SoD is a very loud vocal minority.

like 90% of the wow community does NOT read the forums or even goes to reddit. Most read the news on websites or blizzard.

Trust me on this one - Your just a minority in this.

Take a drink every time someone says they’re amped for SoD on a retail character.

Also no-one is going to “trust you on this one” when you don’t know when to use “you’re” instead of “your”.

I play classic also. I play hardcore honestly.
Just because i’m logged on a retail doesn’t mean i’m playing retail.

I think most people will try it, but i don’t think it’ll stick with most. Mainly because new games take too much time.

Long long ago I used to post on whatever character I was playing the most at the time of my posting. Invariably people would try and red herring my posts with “well you are only saying that because you are a priest” or a rogue, or a warrior… you get the idea. There would be this kind of funny moment when I swapped chars and said “aha!” but it got really draining after a while. I finally decided to just pick one char and post on that until the end of time and stop playing their little game.

People just use your posting character to try and dismiss the content of your post because they lack the logic or reason to argue against it directly. If anyone ever refers to your posting char instead of the content of your post, they have already lost the argument.

So are you trying to say that the vocal minority wants SOD or that the vocal minority does not want SOD?

Absolutely.

Also check out Wowheads interview. All comments are extremely positive. I swear to god, the wow forums are one of the most negative places on the internet.

And no offense, but you must be new to the interwebs. Gaming forums have always been toxic. Thusly the “troll” tags, endless posting of the same crap topics numerous times, and numerous posts whining and shouting to the world such things as, ‘I QUIT’, ‘Unsubbed’, or other such drivel.

On the other hand, you spend some time around here, you find out that there are some pretty smart folk out there, and over all a decent place to find answers to your questions or even flames for your observations, but is done with LURVE!

I’m not bothered by SoD. I’m glad they’re thinking outside the box. Shows that someone there still has some drive to be creative, and that someone is actually listening and letting them be. I have hope.

I’m very likely to be absolutely crushed like every other time Blizz has refused to listen to their players, but alas, that little kid hearing, “Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope,” and then seeing it actually work in the end… hope is a powerful motivator for me and has been all my life. It’ll be a moot point without Wrath server copies, as that’s where I draw the line on my sub, but I have hope for that, too.

The “very vocal minority” is the reason Classic even exists. It’s also the demographic being alienated by things like runes.

The folk excited to be using things like Metamorphosis in Vanilla are the same people who are gonna log out after week 2 and never come back and the core playerbase won’t play it or will migrate back to a private server.

SOD’s servers are gonna be unpopulated wastelands after launch.

WoW knows this . They aren’t stupid. Why they barely read it
