Very low fps after video driver update

My PC could run the retail game on Ultra until the NVIDIA driver update today. I even lowered the retail settings on the lowest settings, which are still at 8 fps. Is it the new driver update that is causing the low fps? BTW, it is not affecting WotLK classic at all.

Check the max and min fps in the video options within WoW. Geforce Experience probably did that dumb thing again where it set the max foreground fps to 8fps, which is supposed to be what it sets the max background fps to.

Report it to Nvidia, since a lot of people use GFE to automatically optimize their games. GFE will find and change game config files for you and that’s what likely happened.

You’re welcome. It’s a common issue that pops up a lot here. The give away is the whole 8 fps thing, since that’s the lowest the slider will let you set it.

I have never seen GEForce Experience behave in any way other than an interference and a waste of time.

YMMV, but I always install just the driver and leave that garbage in the garbage.

I wanted to do that, but the way the download worked was to download the interface. I’ve never been a fan of the GeForce Experience interface, to begin with.

Well when you go to install new drivers, press the custom option and pick the option WITHOUT Geforce Experience. That way, you can install just the drivers.
