i know this has probably been said so many times now but i ended up leveling a Kul Tiran Druid from 20 to 120 and i really really wanted to like the moonkin form because i wanted to play a caster but after a while i started to hate the moonkin form because there isnt any uniqueness about it its just the same fat chicken with just a few things altered where as the Zandalari gets a whole new moonkin form i tried using the Glyph of Stars but after a bit the blue glow became an eyesore my druid has on the good looking heritage armor but with or without the glyph i cant see it i would much rather be looking at my character then a ânewâ fat chicken or a blue blob at the very least i would love to have the option to turn off my moonkin form or something or maybe the Devs can give Kul Tirans a unique moonkin form that isnt the same ugly thing that has been around for over decade
Yeah, Iâm going to wager a keg of Stormsong Valley mead that the Doomlord Hazzikostas-ian rationale behind that terrible design choice is, â⌠The Kul Tirans are a large allied race to begin with so their âreally coolâ Drust inspired moonkin forms are naturally large to reflect their âracial fantasyââ.
Yuck. I feel like a politically correct video gaming company lawyerâŚ
The ZTroll Moonkin is terrifying, though. And not terrifying in a âoh noes, a formidable foe!â kinda way, but more like the terror that comes with accidentally touching a cold loogie that you did not create.
Yea I think the reasoning behind that is they want every class/spec to have a certain look to them. It might be hard to tell a restoration druid from a balance druid if a balance druid could simply appear as their normal humanoid form (until they start casting atleast). For example other multi-specs like Priest has the dark glow for shadow priest and Paladins will have either a sword/board or a two-handed weapon.
Balance Druid is technically supposed to be a moonkin that can use astral powers and stuff. I think the blue glowy form was the compromise for people that donât enjoy being a fat chicken.
I was hyped about KT druids when there was speculation that weâd get to have our moonkin form be those drust tall skinny wooden creatures, THAT would have been great.
I assume the reason why everything about KT is so bland in comparison to Zanda is Zandalari were planned in advance and Kul Tirans, supposedly, werenât actually planned to be an allied race initially, so for the sake of getting them done they reused assets here and there.
Their moonkin form is rather beautiful, even feminine in a monstrous lizardy Birdy way.
Youâre stuck with us having the clearly inferior chicken, Darkspear.
Those arenât reused assets. The KT Moonkin is a new model. All of their Druid forms are new models. Iâm sorry that you do not like what the artist created but, the Zandalari one was just as âreusedâ if not moreso than the KT one. It looks strikingly exactly like the Arakkoa & used all of the same animations.
Not the artists nor Blizzardâs fault you didnât like what they made. I think itâs pretty cool looking. I am forced into the form during the raid so I get to enjoy it.
KT wasnât rushed, they pushed back the Zandalari so the KT model and forms could be a lot better â and they are.
Uh, I wasnât complaining, I just said I was hyped for it then let down. It could have been a lot more interesting, especially when you compare it to Zandalari. The KT Moonkin looks like the basic moonkin except in a burlap sack.
KT could have been one of the dozens of wickerman models in the game and I would have been happy
moonkin must be akin to the druidic magic used:
zandalari - loa-inspired forms
darkspear(learned with tauren with a bit o loa origins
tauren & highmountain version- connection with nelf since immemorial times
night elf - this race must be truly moonkin as with taure & Highmountain
kulâtiran - erroneously using an fat chicken form, their magic come from the drust, a tribe of vyrkrul separated from cenarion magic for too long and evolved their own form of druidism , yet designers prefer using cheaper fat mookin rather than drust constructâŚplus the horde bias from the designers provoked this anti-kultiran mookin thing.
REDESIGN KT MOOKIN FORM NOW! ENOUGH OF FAT CHICKENS!
I canât speak to how Kul Tiran Druids get there powers (I mean Iâve done the Drustvar questline on Alliance but I donât remember them specifically explaining that) but I do agree that there was some definite bias when you take the Zandalari forms into account. I mean they are the one Druid race that differs largely from the others when you consider:
- Fat chicken - arrakoa
- Seal - prehistoric fish
- bird flight form - small pterodactyl
- Deer travel form - Raptor
I really wish moonkin form were optional and that we got our natural armor and some version of âowlkin frenzyâ as a side effect of the spec. Another idea would be to remove the armor bonus if we donât have moonkin form and pick up an altered version of barkskin (stoneskin maybe since thatâs also a D&D spell) that is basically an absorb armor like mages get.
