I’ve noticed a lot of mythic gear with versatility stats. Has it always been like that? And would it beneficial to have it for pve? I know it is usually str/crit/haste or whatever. But does versatility benefit us more? I am just trying to understand the usage of the stat itself. I know in pvp it is awesome for damage mitigation.
The value of stats depends on your gear, your talents, covenants, etc etc. It’s not set in stone which is best, and they change. The values of stats are dynamic.
The content you do does not determine what stats are on the gear, beyond looking for a specific drop, say from a specific dungeon/raid boss.
The best course of action is to sim yourself.
I guess that is the fun of the game exploring different possibilities I guess
Versatility is generally only stacked in high M+ where the absurd amounts of damage necessitate it. I only heard of it happening in S4 though, I dunno if it’s worthwhile without corruption.
It is generally one of the weakest stats for dps warriors in pve, but as Derez points out, stat weights are not simple things. In fact if you go to compute your stat weights on raidbots, it will display a warning stating just so. They’ve actually got a good article on there explaining how the shifting priorities works.
Anyway, if pve is your focus, do as Derez said and use sims. Specifically, if you’re trying to figure out what the best setup is out of the gear you have right now, use a Top Gear sim. If you want to know if an item you’re after is good or not, use Gear Compare. Run a droptimizer sim if you want to know what upgrades are out there for you. Treat versatility just like all the others and wear what your sim tells you to wear.
If you’re unfamiliar with simming, just ask and either of us would be happy to explain it in further detail.
