[Verizon ISP] Lag Spikes - Worse When in Dungeon

Hi there; I’m not too tech savvy, but tonight and the past few days I have been getting terrible lag spikes. It has been particularly bad in dungeons when the game will freeze for a few seconds at a time before catching back up to itself.

I’m on Area 52; I ran WinMTR a few times - once using the US Central IP provided from Blizz, and also an IP I found for the server itself (I wasn’t sure if this was useful, but I am pretty sure Area 52 is US East - no IP was provided by Blizz that I could find).

Not sure what I’m looking at, but would appreciate any feedback.

Edit: I am aware there were DDoS attacks the past couple of days, but was under the assumption that they have stopped at the time I ran these WinMTR tests over the past couple hours. I rebooted my router right before I did these tests.

Also, the second WinMTR was from when I was actually in a dungeon.

I am having the same problem. Started getting lag spikes last week. Getting lag spikes every few seconds in keys. Also on US East and Verizon.

I’ve noticed this becoming an issue for me the last couple days (maybe 2-3 days ago?) Tried coming in to raid and there was severe packet loss. Started midday got a bit worse an hour or two ago and seems to have calmed down a bit as of typing this. US East and Verizon as well

Same for me starting Sunday, US East and on Verizon. I think there is a routing problem but not sure on who’s end.

I am also having this problem, on Cox Cable and US West. games fine as long as i don’t enter a dungeon. Haven’t been on retail in a couple of days, not fun coming back to this.

I was having insane packet loss / lag spikes during raid last night. I have a wired internet connection via Verizon. During boss pulls when there were adds or even during trash my screen would freeze. I never got dc’d and discord worked perfectly throughout the lag spikes / freezes. All other games ran perfect except for wow. My MS would go up as high as 300+ during combat in SOD but in oribos it would drop down to my normal 30ms. It has to be on blizzard’s end in some manner because others in my raid others were having the exact same issue.

Also had huge problems with raid (LFR) pings yesterday. My home server is US-East Stormrage and had typical latency, but LFR was giving me 300-500ms latency with periods of 3000+ ms (yes 3 seconds). Made the game unplayable for me, and I was tanking on my alt so it wrecked the game for everyone else too…

walked into naxx 25 on classic wrath last night and throughout the entirety of the raid i was experiencing 1-3sec lag with everyone running in place and my spells not casting. Then suddenly things would catch back up with all the numbers and abilities reporting back and everyone zooming to their place. disabled all my addons, blah blah blah, nothing had an effect. went and ran a few heroics post raid and not a single stutter

Same here for raid and dungeon, east coast. The guildies from New York and Philly had the same issue but all the non NE people were fine.

Same, since the current reset on tuesday. terrible 300ms overall lag + big 2-3 second spikes. I am on century link gb fiber optic on the west coast/ NW… definitely a blizzard issue… I want it fixed like NOW. its push week gdi. Someone figure out how to alert some blizzard employee who can fix it?

Same, here. Getting lag just like everyone else in Mythic+. On Area-52 and also have Verizon although I do not think it is a Verizon issue. Someone else I play with is having the same problem on a different server. I think it is a WoW issue. Pretty awesome paying for a game I can’t play now… Can’t do high keys when your tank is pausing for a few second every pull.

Same issue. We have at least 6 different guild members with Verizon Fios East Coast (NJ/NY area) that are lagging ONLY in Sanctum of Domination tonight.

I should note as well this was happening to the same people yesterday, ONLY in Sepulcher of the First Ones (Sanctum was fine at the time).
