Venthyr Holy Paladin, is there something i'm missing?

I understand I don’t have all the BIS items but I have decent stat priority, 233 ilvl etc… but i just switched to venthyr to learn and use ashen hallow because I thought it would be a huge damage increase with mad paragon. It does well on hard trash packs, not so much single target “melting” boss though, and overall through the dungeon my dps is maybe +300 vs when i used to use kyrian and divine toll - not even offensively. My trash packs and single target boss damage hover around 5-7k dps. Feel like it’s a little low to switch from divine toll. mad paragon+divine toll+forgelite mikanikos i feel like would do easily comparable overall dungeon dps if not more. am i missing something!?

Hard to say really but wingsisup.com is a great holy paladin website

In case your not already, you should always pair wings with ashen and int pot as available. Ashen also scales with haste so that +12% haste anima power + BL is when you’re gonna see the crazy numbers on ST / other AoE packs.

Aside from that Ashen allows for much larger planned pulls than you could do with divine toll. Not only do you get great aoe damage but your team is nearly invincible for the duration.

Toll and the kyrian pot are amazing and I cannot wait until i can interchange covenants, but there’s no replacing ashen with a great group that plans ahead for that 4 minute CD.

Post on your pala maybe we can help

Edit: I found your pala! For starters, you have almost 300 mastery which is a strong healing stat but does absolute zero for your damage, so if you were to re allocate that to versatility/crit that would be helpful. Your haste looks good. The biggest issue is most likely that the key levels you tend to do are in the 10-12 range, which at your current ilevel, and the ilevel of your teammates is a bit low. Trash dies too fast, and you are most likely not getting full value of your ashen hallows. Venthyr pala is strong in big keys because of how potent the CDs are and can help make or break difficult parts of dungeons. Unfortunately many people follow the very top of the meta and try and apply the same principles to lower casual keys and don’t get the same results. Unless you are enjoying venthyr, I would say go back to kyrian and you will have the same if not greater success. If you stay venthyr I can give you some simple tips to help increase your damage:

  • try glimmer, holy shock a different target Inside the ashen to spread the damage around.
  • Use seraphim! pop it after ashen goes down, then lights hammer then DPS as usual.
  • Prioritize Hammer of wrath, don’t miss any. With mad paragon it’s your best damage.
  • Dump holy Power with light of dawns to try and get awakening procs.
  • Make sure the tank keeps all of the mobs in the ashen for the full duration, and that your teammates stay inside the ashen! It heals them! You should rarely have to actually heal an individual while they are inside the ashen as long as they are standing in it at these key levels, and be able to use all of your GCDs for damage.
  • Pop int pot when you ashen
  • Get rid of that other trinket you have (not the changeling) Try and get a stat clickey (souletting ruby or IQD) makes your ashen more potent.
  • when you have ashen, tell the tank he can pull big if he’s comfortable. You don’t want to hold ashen hallows in a dungeon for too long as you only get so many to use in the time frame. As bad as it feels to use it on a small pull, or a single lieutenant, sometimes it’s better to use a couple “bad” ashen then to not use it at all.
  • Always line it up with wings! Always! If you are De syncd for whatever reason, wait a few seconds to get your wings up! Although ashen lasts longer then wings, you could get away with dropping ashen first then wings mid way through to get full value of both effects but try and keep them synced as best as you can

I’m not the best at maximising damage atm tbh but the biggest thing I think is pulling more. Ashen allows for truly massive pulls. Other than that I think what the person above me said covers it all really well

Unless they are in a coordinated group they won’t have a tank pulling and planning a route around ashen cd and it’ll end up going to waste most of the time from my experience.

probably use vanguards momentum if you want max dps

What does BL stand for? And when you mean the haste anima power you mean the one that also damages you in return?

BL = Blood Lust. And yeah the haste power is generally best to play. The dmg it does to you is pretty negligible especially if you have some leech gear. Playing Beacon of Faith you should also grab the 50% self healing buff from Soggy, placing the faith beacon on a more squishy dps.

Taking the sanguine ichor over the haste power isn’t bad and is pretty safe to play especially in melee heavy groups.

is the crit thing above 70% health not the best one?

Crit one is nice, but with the fire guy your better off taking haste or sanguine ichor.

Depending on the key I’ll swap between the Champion’s brand (crit / haste thing) and the mana orbs from the Executioner mini boss.

Lately I haven’t been taking Champion’s brand because as gear luck would have it I have way more mastery than crit so it would just give me even more mastery which I don’t really need. If you can get it to give you crit and you are fine with mana I’d take that over the mana orbs from Executioner. Still would take haste or sanguine ichor from the fire guy.
