The end cutscene where Kael’thas wants to finish off Kel’Thuzad seemed very unfinished and/or lackluster.
General Draven says to Kael’thas that Kel’Thuzad’s fate is not his/ours to decide. Then the Mawsworn show up and tell Kel’Thuzad that the Banished One (aka the Jailer) wants him by his side and just… TAKES HIM AWAY.
After that cutscene, there’s no remarks. No aftermath. No statements about “Oh damn he got away!”
If I was Kael’thas I would be PISSED to be denied vengeance for Silvermoon… for THE SUNWELL. His fate wasn’t even decided by the Maldraxxus Necrolords. Kel’Thuzad just somehow randomly gets away???
Finishing the questline did not wrap up ANYTHING that just happened. The Prince just says some crap along the lines of “Ahh yes Revendreth can finally return to what it was meant to do.” and General Draven is just like “Ahh yes there’s much work to be done to restore Revendreth to what it once was.”
There’s no Kael’thas demanding retribution. There’s no remarks about how Kel’Thuzad got away or how we need to destroy him.
I agree. Kel’Thuzad didnt even make a sound as he was being pulled away, only him stretching his hand out. I mean he could at least made a Uggh or Sigh or Rawr as he was taken away. Even when General took the medallion from him, he didn’t say anything but he sure talked before and during the fight. I had to do my own voice over lol.
The Venthyr covenant as a whole has been the most disappointing experience this expac.
Our abilities are very meh, our mission tables are broken, layer 3 transportation network was even broken (missing Oribos portal) and now finally the anti-climatic ending of our covenant campaign.
Additionally when I first did the scenario that was incredibly bugged, first time I got inside it was just me so I couldn’t progress or kill any mobs (didn’t know I needed Kael’thas with me as it just dropped me in with no explanation. After trying to kill a few mobs and them sitting at 0 I figured there was some item I was missing or some mechanic to this. Yep there sure was, without Kael’thas the scenario obviously doesn’t work.
Anyway as I reached the final scenario, the fight scene I killed the lich and boom it instantly teleported me out of the scenario, dropped me at Sinfall with a quest completed in my log. And then I just had to awkwardly walk back to sinfall with no idea what the hell just happened.
Later I discovered that the entire cinematic / ingame talking ending just didn’t play for me because (like everything this expac) was bugged to all hell.
After watching the actual cinematic on YouTube and seeing them just hand over the Lich to the jailer I wondered wtf. That is our enemy. Why in the flying hell would you just hand over an enemy to your enemy. Especially given what we know the jailer is doing.
The bugged out experience of Shadowlands has otherwise ruined a very mediocre story.
I’m so disappointed with Blizzard that my gut instinct was genuinely to just quit. They make it so hard to love their games through pure incompetence.
I know games have bugs, they always do. But Blizzard consistently has serious game breaking bugs ALL THE TIME. It’s just pathetic that a company of this size can’t land an ending to a covenant campaign. Both story wise and bug wise.
Tertiary complaint: the venthyr covenant is primarily concerned with freeing Revendreth from Denathrius’s influence, but there is absolutely no quest that tells you when during the storyline you are supposed to actually raid Castle Nathria.
Let me tell you, once Kael’thas plopped into my demon hunter’s covenant sanctum I was all kinds of surprised.
Its weird. I was sitting there thinking “and then?” after it. Even with the cinematic, just being dropped off at the mirror I had no clue what was going on.
And even before that, i guess we are teleported to the floating Naxx. I got there and am asking what do i do? Stand on a circle? Thats a trap. No one is clickable, lets find someone to kill. Do i now just jump down and kill more randoms? Oh a teleport item that i am lucky i even noticed!
And as said, knowing full well the raid would be cleared by now, why isnt there a lead in or a tie in to the raid? Who are these people we are killing? And now saving KT?
Where is Garrosh? He was a centerpiece of the pre launch cinematic. Where is he?
You think they could have at least let the Lich Margrave torture him for a few week, and let him escape off screen at the beginning of the next patch, or whenever they need him as a filler raid boss. As it was, I (well my warrior) was like “I can handle this mawsworn trash” Why charge no work?
Completely agree! Everything seemed so odd. You’re surrounded by enemies and all the enemies just stand there and watch you escape. They don’t try to stop you or anything. It was so odd. I also hated that Kael didn’t one lick on Kelthuzarad either.
For both Venthyr and Necrolords, this is just a very underwhelming mess in my eyes.
Like… I thought Kel’Thuzad would be more cunning than this than just returning to the Jailer empty handed. What did he exactly accomplish in Maldraxxus?
He played politics in Maldraxxus and played the Houses of Construct, Rituals and to the extent, Eyes.
He yoinked the Medallion of Dominion in Revendreth only to get yoinked again… What was the Medallion used for again?
Margrave Sin’Dane has a change of heart from conquering other realms along with Ghermal to supporting the Will of the Primus in a blink of an eye. Did she really even get close to Kel’Thuzad?
Like wth is going on? I may have to do it again on my 2 Dks (Both Necrolord and Kyrian) JUST TO understand what’s going on and try to find answers that would be otherwise underwhelming.
-_-
EDIT: And don’t even get me started with him escaping to the Maw… That was the most random escape I’ve ever seen.
DHs, Shamans, DKs, Druids, Priests, Paladins have specs best pic for Venthyr… some are insanely strong, Condemn, Chain harvest, Mind games, Ashen hollow…
Can’t remember the name for the DKs but it also grants 20% dodge!!, Great for Blood DKs.
