Does any other venthyr BM (I know there’s little of us out there) think our stat priority should be crit>haste>mastery>versatility? Crit for the flayed shot procs and mastery over versatility if you have animal companion and the dire command legendary. I feel like I’m doing well with it topping boss charts in mythic dungeons even at a lower ilvl than others
in theory the crit stat’s interaction with the 25% increased crit damage on improved killshot should scale well and do a lot of damage, maybe even pushing rylakstalker ahead of SFE on single target if you build your gear around it. that’s the dream…
in reality, though, flayed shot / killshot procs make your rotation more complex while adding next to no dps, and that’s on single target- which is the limit of its effect. in a mythic+ situation where you’ll be doing mechanics a lot (and so your rotation will not be perfect) it feels like a lot more trouble than its worth.
i’ve tried to make it work on both bm and mm, and even once memorized it underperforms to the point that you’ll hold the group back not being night fae.
needs a buff badly. only strength is that you get occasional instant cast procs for use while moving around bosses or kiting in pvp; though especially for BM this means next to nothing.
i’m curious for anyone who played beta: was flayed shot ever good in any iteration of early shadowlands?
It was much stronger earlier on - higher DoT damage, longer duration, and a higher price rate. The gameplay was and remains fun and reactive, but the tuning just isn’t there right now.
I went kyrian first was strong but felt boring and kinda didn’t like resonating arrow but the dps was good defensive moves were strong. Then I went venthyr the damage dropped significantly and door of shadows was pretty situational added complexity with negative results. Worst covenant. Then I went to necro lord and while a tiny fraction weaker than kyrian necro lord feels the smoothest and wields moderate damage still while not having to deal with random price and aoe circles. Kyrian is still stronger but clunkier. I have not tried out night fae. But people say it’s tuned the best. I may swap back kyrian at some point but for now I’m enjoying necrolord
